The machine gun fires 20x99mm HE (High Explosive) rounds, which are belt fed from external drums. Its origins can be traced to the AK line of rifles used in the 20th and 21st Centuries AD. The internal parts of the weapon are similar to its smaller predecessors. Some differences are that it fires from the open-bolt position instead of the closed-bolt, and it is belt fed instead of magazine fed.
The ammunition drum that is currently in use is placed on the right arm. A spare drum is stored on each hip.
The power units are stored on the back and underside of the Core unit. Having three power units is what gives the Lightning its mobility and agility due to the power strain being shared amongst all three power cells. Another advantage is the Mobile Core can operate in the field for much longer durations.
The cockpit of the Lightning. The advanced targeting unit is placed above the cockpit. The canopy features a HUD (Heads-Up Display) which shows various information for the pilot, such as a targeting reticule, ammunition count, and power consumption.
The canopy opens forward, which will protect the pilot upon exiting the Mobile Core in a hostile environment.
The left hand can not only hold objects, but is also configured to act as a melee weapon. The bladed claws can shred through most lightly- and medium-armored targets.
The legs have a high degree of motion, even with armor plating. Also shown are the spare ammunition drums on the hips.
An Anti-Personnel Turret is installed underneath the cockpit for defense against dismounted infantry and lightly-armored vehicles.
A Lightning is confronted by two Zims.
The Lightning darts to the right and fires at one Zim, showing its superior agility and maneuverability.
After destroying the first Zim, the Lightning dashes towards the last Zim to impale it with the "melee claw."

Very interesting take on the L frame. I would encourage to add this to the Project AEGAKS group! Nicely done. ^Blub^
Wow, I am honored to have you comment on my creation! Thank you! And even though this does not fit in with the AEGAKS universe, I will add it since the one and only RGF commanded me so. Ha ha. When initially designing this, I had NO idea what I was going to do. After the basic frame was done, the rest simply fell into place.
