Inspired by the prospect of a new YT series and by the works of an amazing Mocist, I rebuilt the original Toa of Bionicle's first days, better than before. Enjoy!
About this creation
Names: Tahu, Gali, Lewa, Pohatu, Onua, and Kopaka Genders: 5 Male, 1 female Species: All Toa Races: All Toa Elements: Fire, Water, Air, Stone, Earth, and Ice Occupation: Protecting the Matoran of the six villages on the island, Mata Nui. Title(s): Toa, Spirits Kanohi: Hau, Kaukau, Miru, Kakama, Pakari, and Akaku Alignment: Chaotic Good Moc Statuses: All assembled.
Washed upon the shores of Mata Nui knowing only their names, these six Toa were forced to work together, despite their differences, to defeat the evil Makuta and free the Rahi from his control. Simple, mysterious, and almost every Bionicle fan's favorite story. Enjoy the mocs.
Let us begin with Kopaka, Toa of Ice.
Front view.
Rear view.
Displaying his mighty shield in combat with Lewa.
Dueling with his ice sword against the fiery Toa Tahu.
Cool pose, I think. XD
Onua, Toa of Earth:
Front view.
Rear view.
Slashing his powerful claws in practice battle with Kopaka.
Cool pose, I think(AGAIN!).
Pohatu, Toa of Stone.
Front view.
Rear view.
Fighting foot-to-hand combat with Onua.
KICK! Kinda blurry, but whether it adds or takes away from the photo is up to you.
Gali, Toa of Water.
Front view. No, I didn't go uber feminine on her, sue me! :P
Rear view.
Ahah! She's captured Pohatu! Hey, I had to do something with them, it's a shame there's not a lot of uses for hooks.
But hey, here she climbs a wall with them!
Lewa, Toa of Air:
Front view. Arms inspired by the great Michael Eederken's.
Rear view.
Lewa dueling Gali, yayz.
Running, about to chop down something his powerful axe!
And finally, Tahu, Toa of Fire.
Front view. My personal favorite of the bunch, probably because I got a lot of inspiration from Michael Eederken's own Tahu.
Rear view.
Sword(and axe?) fight with Lewa!
Action pose!
Wielding his fire blade, blazing brighter when he feels great emotion.
The Toa Mata as a whole team:
Group shot!
Toa interaction. Gali and Onua in fine discussion, Tahu seems angry at Lewa, and Pohatu tries to talk to a cold Kopaka.
The whole gang compared to the Matoran, Nuru, and the Toa, Callan.
Callan: Jojo, these are the original Toa! :D
Jojo: Who are dey?! All I've seen is Hero Factory.
Callan: Ah, I have so much to teach you, my boy!
Gali and Lewa beating up on a Bohrok Obama...
Callan: Oh man, Tahu, I'm a HUGE fan! I think my favorite form of you was the Mistik-
Tahu: GET OUT!
Pohatu and Onua beating up one of those evil Rahi- wait... I think they've wound up in the HF department! Boy, I pity that Jawblade. They're gonna end up ripping off his face before they realize there's a mix up!
Tahu: Fairwell, Mocpagers!
Pohatu, Lewa, and Gali: Bye!
Onua: We wish you luck in your journey through the pages.
Kopaka: Hmph...
Please comment and rate if you like them! Thanks, and have a great day! :D
You did an amazing job on the Toa. The larger size and more parts give it a good technic like feel to them, and I think that's what makes a good Bionicle.
Nice job. Tahu, Kopaka and Onua look like the only mostly detailed ones in the team. BTW, is Nuru from iBIONICLE? Just wondering, but that's fine. What matters is that they are all good.

These are great. I`m just wondering. Why didn't you build Pohatu's body like Onua's? They both had the upside down body dealio. Anyway, love the revamps.
Jimmy's right, Onua never had an upside down torso. And actually, only Tahu and Lewa have similar basic body designs, everyone else was completely unique. :)
great take on this team man! and correction onuas body was never upside down only pohatu was. onua had his head mounted from the sholders. a piece would mount to the place where a ball joint would be if he where tahu or lewa. that piece would be used as a neck. onuas armr where rigged like galis when u turn the gear

These are great revamps. I do think that you should have tried to make them a bit more similar, as the originals all used the same body. Otherwise, epicness with awesomesauce on top.
Wow, Just wow! Each one of them is unique in their own way and use great techniques! Oh and kopaka is doing the Link pose from the LoZ Skyward Sword game case. lol
Awesome! The Toa Mata story line has always been my favorite Bionicle story. I read the books that corresponded with it multiple times in elementary school and I still have them. I didn't start liking Bionicle until 2003 so I don't own any of the original ones. I do however own all of the Toa Nuva including Takanuva (the original). My favorites were Kopaka (he's most like me), Tahu, and Lewa. I really wish LEGO would have made the rest of the Bionicle story as good as the 2001-2003 story line but they didn't.
By the way, I thought the Borock Obama joke was really funny (I come from a strong Republican family).

Wow, great work on all of them! I'm quite impressed, and honestly feel like running out and building my own versions! (Not going to, but still :P) I like the leaf chestplate and Lewa, and Gali lack of "uber-feminist" seems more true to the original character to me. Onua's hunched over look is also very nice. Great work!
They're all very nice, I really dig Pohatu's strong looking leg design and Lewa's plantlife element. Gali's shoulders seem a bit separated from the body though.
as usual, good work.
I know this is annoying to ask but can you please tell me how I could build my own!? They're so beautiful and they were my first bionicles and I've missed them so much. I still have my Mata in great condition and I always hoped lego would remake them but they never did. I know it'll take alot of your time to do so and I'm sorry. I think I'm just desperate or something and being silly.
Dude i love how you took the Toa Mata sets and made them more epic looking than before :D. These looks should really become the official sets of the original Toa Mata :D. the obama joke was funny also XD. Oh and you should do the Nuva version of the Toa Mata :D

Amazing revamps. I thank you for putting the original color of the eyes!
(Except for Tahu, but that's about as close as you can get) They all look amazing! I like the use of the system, especially on Pohatu, he looks amazing with that system chest design. (How-to possibly?) The only thing I would say is to replace the red ball joints with black joints.

Please. Do. A How to on Tahu! @.@
Ha ha, thanks man! Yeah, I really wanna get rid of Gali's red ball joints, hopefully I can get a small sum on Bricklink sometime soon. Until then, I'm sad to say she's stuck with those. :( But as to your questions for "How-To's", I do have some ideas for giving out one. I'll be adding an update video to this page hopefully tomorrow, so there I'll be explaining what I'm up to. :)

Aaahh... those were the days... Makes you want Bionicle to come back even more huh? You are EXTREMELY creative with all of this, and I appreciate the use of the same colored eyes for each o' dem. Looks like you and my Dad have something in common, with the whole "Bohrok Obama" thing. Yeah. But when are you going to do anodda episode of Mocadvice? It's been a whole lot of nothing for months.
First, thanks so much for your encouraging words, I'm really glad that you like them. About Moc Advice, I really have been pressed down by school lately and I just haven't had the time to post the next episode. Ben's been awfully busy too, so it just hasn't come together. I'm almost wanting to cancel Moc Advice all together, but I do definitely wanna finish "Season 2" first if possible. Thanks for sticking with us, I'm sorry we haven't done much yet.

WOW! I am a huge Bionicle fan (even though I don't post any Bionicle MOCs) and this is just amazing! While Kopaka is my favorite Toa, I really like the legs on Tahu and think he is the coolest looking of them. Keep on Bricking!
Truly fantastic form on them, I really liked how you made them all having the same shape but still making each one very unique! The gear-details on Tahu are epic.
This is awe-inspiring, it makes me wish I had more useful pieces. VERY solid work, it's one of my favorite pages on this website. Can I buy these from you, by any chance? :P
This MOC has some of your funniest jokes (Bohrok Obama XD) But the design's are great, although I would try to change Tahu's dimensions a bit, his legs seem a bit bigger than his torso :/ But great MOC(s) overall!

Only thing I don't like is the silver hooks. None of the other toa have any silver at all, and they stick out like a sore thumb.
Thanks for all your critiques, Gringat! I would've given her the blue hooks, but I only had one and I couldn't build the same kind of extensions in blue, so the blue/black might've looked better, but not quite as clean looking. And just a pointer, Pohatu does have his silver Nuva kickers(Never got the full original set, only some parts from it).
When you showed these to me you hadn't done Gali yet, so she's the one I'm most interested in - excellently done, by the way. Captured her essence brilliantly, even though she's usually the hardest of them all to do right. Only thing I don't like is the silver hooks. None of the other toa have any silver at all, and they stick out like a sore thumb. Also, loving the boxy system parts usages on them all. :)
Quoting Chronos Omega
Oh god, laughing so hard about Bohrok Obama. That is hilarious. Almost enough to make me overlook the fact that your Toa are beating up Ramnux! D:
Ha ha, thanks!! But, I apologize, who's Ramnux? EDIT: Oh whoops, now I get it. XD

I like all the parts that are bionicle, but honestly I don't like any of the parts that have system. Otherwise, they're rather good, I can see Mike's influence.
Yeah, using system bits in Mocs has become a habit of mine, whether it's good or bad has varied from person to person and from moc to moc. Unfortunately, some of these guys were harder to make considering most of the parts that were their colors were system, that's why some have more system than others. Sorry you don't like Kopaka, Connor, ideas on how to improve him would help more than complaints, though. Thanks a million you guys, I'm glad you overall like them! :D
Nice remakes! It really takes me back, looking at the pics. I think Tahu and Kopaka were my two faves (and still are! nice job on those two!). Great job!

Lovely work on these. Lewa and Pohatu look the best IMO, but Kopaka looks a little awkward. Kinda sad, cause he's my favorite Toa Mata. Nice MOCs again! Hope to see more from you soon. :)
These mocs are a great revamp to their original toa mata selves! Tahu is my favorite out of them all!
I love the details you put into these guys.
Btw, the bohrok obama thing made me ROFL so hard!!! XD
Better than the originals! I really like these revamps. I think LEGO could have added to the BIONICLE sets by following the adventures off the stuff from 2004 to 2010 like the stuff with Artahka and the journey of Takanuva even theough the story was ended in 2010. These would have made great sets.
Finally something new from you! I can say, without a doubt, that they're the best revamps of the Toa Mata i have ever seen. I love the torsos, but also the arm designs on Kopaka and Tahu, so simple and beautiful... The look of each one is amazing: the 'bulkiness' on Onua, the strength on Pohatu... My favourite ones are Lewa and Pohatu, by far; althought all of them are epic. You have returned, and with a project proper of an epic MOCer. Great, great job, my dear Callan.
BTW, last pictures and lines are a bit messed up ;P
