Ru Corder vs Tyler Halliwell
X marks the spot: build a scene where brave adventurers might find some loot. The treasure’s yours for the taking!

Here we have brave adventurers, in this case, vikings, looking for loot at a badly placed seaside hall of a lowly lord. The sea wolves have come to burn, raid, and do other acts that are a bit less appropriate for such a kid friendly site. The vikings are generally ill-equipped but for their leader, who has a silver crested helmet and arm rings. I included the photogenic viking on the side. Their longship, Fyrdraca, is in the back.

Top view. Thatch burns quite easily, as is also mentioned in Joshua Christenson's entry that I just viewed. Here we also see a woman and child trying to escape the onslaught.

Overall view. Never build a hall this close to the sea, especially if you have a convenient strip of land leading up to it.

The ship and a random wench. I took maybe 80 pictures and these were the best, with still a fair amount of blurriness. I hate Indiana weather and sucky cameras.

Here we see the opposing forces. Lord Harald must come out with his household troops to defend the hall. Although they number fewer than the raiding troops, they are better armed and all have helmets. You decide the action!

The thatch. My minifig bodies are mostly lacking hands. I guess you could say that they lent a hand thatching the roof. (Groan)

Above with flash. Not a great picture, but I like the water. Water is fun to build in Lego.

I just like the guy dragging the girl by the hair. He found his "treasure!" And I bet she's not too happy about it.

I think that it is worth mentioning that it was during Round 2 of the MocOlympics last year that I bought all of these 2x2 trans clear slopes for the victorious “Fashionable Bridge” mosaic. This has made me realize that I am successful at building and copying pictures, but I am stinky at envisioning and creating on my own right. Interesting.

Well, thanks to all of the judges for putting this on. You are all the best. Also, good luck to Ru, a very worthy opponent who I am slightly afraid of. If you move on, you'd better win it, or at least beat Gio for me. I planned to build a cool Fantasy adventurer party build for this, but Ru told me that that was his plan, so I let him have it. That was probably a good choice, for I barely had enough time to finish this build in time. Besides, vikings are cool. Read The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell. You will be better off in life.

I always love to see elements recreated in LEGO®. The burning roof is very believable. Excellent.

Tyler, It's fun to watch you try techniques you've picked up from the community and put your own spin on them. Great work on the water! ~Dave

*Scuttles in from the VLUG forum* Ahem, sorry i'm late! Lovely build mate, deserving of advancing. No, water is not fun to build, but you do it better than I do so maybe it's in the technique. The thatched roof is brilliant, a very neat trick. Well done Tyler and good luck. *Scuttles off stage left*

Congratulations on advancing to round 3! We have a challenging category to compete in - Board Games - and I can see from your other MOCs that you are comfortable building almost any theme, so I'm more than a little nervous. My building time will be a little squeezed for this round too, but I'll give it my best shot. Good luck and may the best MOC win!

hey, I heard that! No seriously, that hey roof is really pretty, probably a first for me. If you take pics of minifigs, you should try lower angles. We just love to look 'em in the eyes. Don't give up yet, Dude, I know you've come a long way! Good luck with thy judges!

That's an awesome scene. The ship and water looks great as well as the roof. The photos don't do justice though, especially the main one. Good luck! -LB Senior

You seem to be coping all right with your college workload... this is another great build. The hall is my favourite part, especially the thatch and the entrance. I'm seeing a lot of great water effects in people's entries this year - I'm going to have to get me a stock of trans plates and studs! Good luck!

I think this is a fantastic build but for some reason I don't feel like I really took it all in. I think a few more close up photos would have helped.

Well, personally I think that you should be DQ'd for not deleting El Barto !'s comment, but other than that, this looks excellent. Great roof technique, far better than the puns about it...
