MO Rd 2 Quad ???? vs LWC Guy: Sukkot
Lev 23:34 "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD.

Category:
Holiday Landscape: Build a landscape depicting your favorite holiday! (Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc) Be sure to include WHICH holiday youíre building so we donít have to guess.

The biblical holiday of Sukkot (or ĎFeat of tabernaclesí, or ĎFeast of boothsí) is probably not what you judges had in mind for this category, but I figured since itís the holiday me and my family are celebrating right this week, I decided I should build it for this category.

(just so you know, the seventh month itís referring to is the seventh new moon month of the biblical lunar year, not the solar year)

Deu 16:12 "You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.
Deu 16:13 "You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing floor and your wine vat;
Deu 16:14 and you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your male and female servants and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your towns.
Deu 16:15 "Seven days you shall celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.

Now Iím sure that the way we celebrate this feast is MUCH different than the way children of Israel did back then, but we try to at least have the same sense of the holiday.

This is basically how we had made our sukkah in real life.

Lev 23:39 'On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the LORD for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day.
Lev 23:40 'Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.
Lev 23:41 'You shall thus celebrate it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

Thereís those palm branches. :)

And since the children of Israel celebrated the feast in their tents, thatís basically what we do too. :)

Though itís nice to know that our tents nowadays have improved very much so. (you didnít think we were going to be sleeping in the Sukkah did you?)
So basically itís not too different from spending a week camping. :)

I guess I should start talking about the actual creation now.

Let me tell you, building natural looking trees out of LEGOģ isÖ hard. I experimented with a few different techniques Iíve seen around (as you can see) until I came up with the one on the far right.

Yay for you! I put in directions!

Itís pretty simple. Those leaf-tree pieces just sort of hook right onto the 2x2 barrel pieces. Cool right?

Also lucky for you I have pictures of how I did the awesome camp chairs.

Ta-da!

And just in case you missed the first two linksÖ
Ka-chow!
Ka-chow!!

And my final thought:

Kosher marshmallows FTW!

Quoting Paul Vermeesch It's great to see another Messianic on the 'Pages! I was going to try to comment on Simchat Torah, but fell terribly ill. Anyhow, I really appreciated how you stepped outside the box, but unfortunately my vote goes to LWC guy as well. I'm sorry to see you go, but I must say that I never can stand kosher marshmallows. Always too fishy.
Wow, it's amazing to find another MOCer with such similar beliefs (especially a MOCer I know of :)) Thanks for the comment, (and LOL on the marshmellows). Shalom!

Quoting Flare . Very nice! I didn't know that you were Jewish, or if I did know then I must've forgotten. Anyways, you're better than me, I didn't sleep in my sukkah or in a tent :P Nice work! Good luck! @ Timinater - this isn't a Christian holiday whatsoever, its Jewish.
I'm not quite jewish because I believe in the Messiah and don't follow along with the traditions of the rabbis, but I'm not really Christian because they don't obey all the torah and they use the wrong names. I believe my dad calls it Chamashiach, little messiahs, because we try to do all that Yahushua of Nazereth did, including keeping the feasts like he did and the sabbaths. Thanks for the comment. :)
