Make a scene where a minifig performs an incredible feat. The key lies in the posing of the fig and adapting the environment to the action. Is he lifting a car off a toddler or shoving someone out of the way of a speeding semi?
Come up with a MOC of a normal person performing an incredible feat!
About this creation
MocOlympics 2012

My honorable opponent's entry.
DON’T UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER!

It was a beautiful day for a hike as the Carlson’s made their way across the suspended bridge high above Emerald-Bend River gorge.

Being a lush environment full of all kinds of flora and fauna, it is a popular destination for anyone who wishes to commune with nature.

This shallow river actually earned its name from its rocks which are enveloped in a deep green moss giving them the illusion of being giant gems bathed in sparkling water.

However, this day would soon turn into a hellish nightmare as the bridge suddenly begins to buckle and then snap apart literally under their feet!

Samantha Carlson manages to grasp the remaining support cable.
Steadying herself, she glances back to find her son Dylan stretching for the safety of his grandmother’s arms but her husband James is nowhere to be seen.

Low and behold though, the bridge seems not to be collapsing?
Then it becomes frightening unreal as to why.
James somehow managed to grab onto each unbroken half and through sheer force of will is holding the bridge together while screaming for them to get to safety!

Dr. William Whoreknocker and his son Peter who were also enjoying some quality father-son time together happen to arrive amidst the chaos and rush to their aid.

One young future botanist with the moniker of Lily (what a shocker) McGilicutty is so engrossed by a flowering hibiscus that she is utterly oblivious to the courage amidst the crisis occurring around her.

Perhaps even more disturbing is the guy named Percy Lewiniski who only sees dollar signs through his lens-finder at the scene unfolding before him.

If he’s not careful, he might end up like the last guy who also ignored the safety rails to get that money shot, Gawd willing!

Now for some additional shots of the scenery in all its splendor. This one reveals the rare golden-throated red-crested woodpecker.

In the pine trees we have a couple of grey-bellied blackbirds looking for a place to roost.

Scaling the rocky terrain, a large hunting spider sets its eight eyes on a tasty frog sitting amongst the grass.

A couple of shore birds search for tender morsels along the shoreline.

It’s so nice to see such lovely flowers in bloom this time of year.

The following shots are to give a better view of the rock ledges and the other vegetation.

COMMENTATORS NOTES: When I first read this category, I had no idea how I was going to pull this off. A multitude of ideas came and fell by the wayside. Like most things I build, it just sort of grew on its own. Hopefully the concept of a father doing the impossible to save his family no matter the cost shines through. If not, then at least I got to work on my skills building scenery and maybe even improve them a smidge or two.
Good luck to all who advance and to rest (which might be including me), at least you’re free to build what you want again!

Perfect take on the category and a well deserved win. The Force grows stronger in you every round!~H
Thank you my friend but I fear the "force" in question may be excessive levels of methane from that meat-lovers pizza I devoured earlier. Look-out! |

Okay, maybe I lied a little bit when I said that it didn't matter if I made it to round three or not... Congratulations! You bested me this time, but when this MO thing is all over I'll want to challenge you to a Moc-off. ;) You nailed the category dead on, while I just had a mind-blank and didn't know what to build. Congratulations again, and good luck in the rest of the rounds!
I understand how you feel. The last time I was in this contest a couple of years ago, this was the very round where I got knocked out. It happens to all of us my friend. Perhaps the best way to look at it is to consider it as a new goal to shoot for in your building style. As far as your challenge to a Moc-off goes, I gladly accept. I must admit though, I have looked at some of your star ship designs and as good as those are, I fear you might mop the floor with me in such a duel!
Best of luck to you in whatever you build next.

"Doctor Whoreknocker"? A bit of an unusual name, but great build though!
Since you noticed, I'll let you in on a little secret. This IS the name of an actual person. I was watching a nature special on PBS several years ago when they introduced a wildlife biologist and his name is or was maybe (it's been a very long time), Dr. Whoreknocker. So there you go. |
