Made by Isaac. My 100th creation; my replica of a 1955 Pontiac Star Chief in 6-wide. This model took about 3 weeks to complete (not working on it every day, of course). The front was probably the hardest part, as it was difficult to get the oversized bumper corect. It's partly a WIP; I need to paint the inner tires white for the white walls, and the interior can be improved I think. Credit for the grill/light combination goes to Henrik Hoexbroe; truth be told he was in influence in this build. Hope you like it !
About this creation
Some automobiles were naturals. They were a hit before the model ever reached the showroom floor. The 1955 Pontiac Star Chief convertible was one of those cars. The 1955 Pontiacs were the division's first totally new postwar model. Although all of the new GM lines shared common styling cues, Pontiacs were distinguished by their bumper and grille designs and the use of distinctive fanjet-type crescents above the headlamps (adopted from the Bonneville Special show car) which started at the grille arch and ran over the hood to the windshield. Chrome trim was used along the bottom of the rear fenders, and optional chromed skirts added a stylish accent to the rear wheel wells. Overall, the new Pontiac line, and the Star Chief convertible in particular, had shed the bulky look of the 1940s. With a hoodline lowered by 3.75 inches, bringing the fenders right up to the level of the hoo, and a reduction in overall vehicle height of 2.75 inches, compared to the 1954 models, the new cars appeared crisp, clean, and strikingly modern The most significant change in 1955, however, was what Pontiac had packed beneath that new, lower hood; a new GM 287-cubic-inch V8!

Chrome Block City has chromed parts and also will do special orders, it is not cheap but it sure does look good! But sometimes certain parts of the part do not get chromed so check first. |

Very nice, a beautiful MOC. I especially love the silhouette and the rear of the fins (has this been done before?). Some fine solutions, too. Great job! |

Quoting Henrik Hoexbroe
lol, when I saw the thumbnail, I too thought it was one of mine! ;-) I think the car is excellent. There are some nice new ideas. I especially like the windows, -and especially-especially the rear one and its roof-lines. A photo of the underside would be much appreciated.
Lastly, a big thankyou for the mention, really made my day!
More info and pictures added ! |
