M4A4 Sherman WWII Tank
About this creation
P Sherman 42 Wallaby Way Sidney. Ok not that Sherman.. I have seen some great tanks here on the pages, and A LOT of the Abrams tanks. So here is something different. A WWII Sherman M4A4 Tank. Be sure to check out the video at the end. There are a few surprises in it ;)

The Sherman tank was the main medium tank of the U.S during WWII. It came in several different types. The main type of gun was a 75mm. It also had 76mm, and a 105mm Howitzer.

The M4A4 version is more square than previous versions.

I couldn't have asked for a better photo shoot. The ominous clouds made a nice backdrop. I just now realized, I didn't add the Star stickers like I was going to.. :S

The back of the tank features a few tools, and some spare fuel tanks.

From here you can see the exhaust grill.

Also the IR receivers. This was a very good place to mount them.

A close up of the tools, and fuel tanks. The little mini-fig shovels are supposed to be handles not shovels.

Here is a little ladder to get up on top.

The front has headlights, machine-gun, and handrails.

The rollers/bogies were pretty easy to build. I used the bigger track unlike most tank builders who use the black smaller track.

Here is the Video:

Thanks for looking!

Wow great job! The M4A4 had the 105, right? That middle set of wheels not on the track bugged me a bit, but I can get over it.

Excellent build! The video was that nice added touch to wrap everything up in a nice, firecracker-filled, package.

Quoting John Daniels Awesome, George! It looks perfect. *Sarcasm* It's just amazing how you made the tank barrel really shoot! *End Sarcasm* The tiny details look great! I love the land mines as well. A very well earned 5-5. --John
Haha thanks, I actually stuck the first firecracker in the barrel. It left a few burn marks. Also my tank is covered in dirt from the "land mines".
Quoting Gabor Pauler Excellent chassis and suspension, great work! However 2 critics: 1. The turret would look more realistic made from rounded tile bricks than assembled from plates. The reason is that the Sherman had 1-piece casted turret (like T-34) with seriously rounded edges for higher ballistic defence. Against that, e.g. King Tiger had welded turret from rolled plates, which can be modelled better from plates. 2. If you want some more sophisticated soothing mechanism in the same scale, see http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/338509 for ideas
I did struggle with the turret it needs to be redone so it looks better. That shooting mechanism looks crazy sophisticated. I'm not sure it would fit in my tank.
Quoting Senator Chinchilla Fireworks and tanks go together like PB&J. Great vid, and awesome tank. I'm shocked at how sturdy that barrel is.
Thats right! It was pretty fun to shoot the fireworks off I just needed another person to hold the camera so I could shoot firecrackers at the tank.
Quoting Chris Melby George, I've been away for a bit, great build, or should I say builds! The suspension on this is killer! Chris
Thanks Chris! It's always nice to hear from you. It's not that killer... It only shoots firecrackers ;)
Quoting Chrismo Brickfanatic Again, you produce a great MOC. You have such a great way with every small detail. The result is as always wonderful. I also like the way you have managed to hide every cable and ugly stuff.
Thanks :) This one was way fun to build. I think it turned out all right. Could use a revision on the turret. A big thank you to everyone!
