This is the dwarven city of Ironfell. Designed to be underground it is quite monotone and mostly stone. Kordoon's Maw throne room, the Anvil of Kordoon, Drom's Exotic Pet shop, and the Golden Brewery are the main areas to explore. They were built in the typical Heroica fashion with facade at the back, simple achitecture, not too detailed, and able to connect in many ways. A large hammer motif shows the iron will of the hardy race.
Shown are barbarians because Lego has yet to make a dwarf. The hobbit game has 2 but they are hard to find, don't look very good, and are the same size as other microfigs.
(They have now put out The Hobbit boardgame but I likely won't buy it. Custom Microfigs should be done soon)

Nice, I've been trying to make a barbarian place for a while and haven't been able to get the right system for the bases and paths, do you have any ideas for me???
First I would try to decide what elements you want such as houses, mountains, snow or forest, etc. Try to keep all details on one or 2 sides, and keep them at a single elevation (makes things easier). Each section can then be connected by a bridge of 2, 3,or 4 path squares. You can build at diff elevations and with more detail but it limits connections and can pose challenges. For a theme, the barbarians are said to live in a snowy, rocky, hilly, region possibly with field stone homes or longhouses.
That's my method in a nutshell. Sometimes it takes a while to get it all functional.
