Curatos, Matrix Armor Guardian
The Curatos gets a massive revamp--the Guardian has returned.
About this creation
Well, after yet another long spell of inactivity, i present to you my Curatos the Guardian v.3. Since I've been off so long, it makes perfect sense that this creation wouldnt get nearly as popular as when I was all the rage, but I'll put it out there just for spirit. And I'll try to keep it snappy too. Hopefully this gets over, say, 70 likes, because I think it's definitely worth it. Thank you guys for your support. Text can be found at the bottom of each picture.

Oh, and today's my 2nd annual Mociversary! I missed the first one though. Hooray for me!

-Curatos is now 100% custom.
-Curatos, unfortunately, now has Hero Factory pieces. Thank you Rocka XL.
-Curatos has a total of 20 pieces that are held only by friction or entrapment.
-Curatos has a total of 13 weapons.
-Curatos is filled with tons and tons of GREEBLEZ!!!
-Curatos now has an exposed, bigger Heartlight.

STORY: (If you're too lazy, skip through this part) Curatos was once a Ko-Matoran in an alternate M.U., and in this universe the Makuta had taken over all of the islands, save a few southern ones, and turned the Matoran and Toa into beings of Shadow to do their will. The Makuta were led by the merciless Miserix after the previous second-in-command, Teridax, was killed for trying to conjure up a different Plan to take over the universe. After Teridax and his allies were killed, Miserix assembled the rest of the Makuta and used Mutran's and Tridax's shadow leeches to infect all of the Matoran and Toa around.

Curatos, now a shadow matoran like the rest of his friends, worked as a slave under the Makuta, this time to build some kind of power siphon that would drain Karda Nui's energy, killing the Great Spirit while harvesting all of this energy for themselves. However, before it was finished, Curatos and a few others were taken into custody by the Makuta for experimenting. Curatos and the other captives were immersed in all kinds of Makuta viruses and unknown substances, but only Curatos and one other matoran, Detrimax, survived the experiments. Detrimax was supposedly the success of the Makuta, and so he was taken away while Curatos was left as a failure.

As a result of the experiments, Curatos' shadow powers started to go wild, and he would often find himself talking to beings of pure shadow emerging out of his heart. Now a radioactive shadow lunatic stuck in captivity, Curatos thought he would surely go mad, until a being named Vezon came into his dimension and pulled him into the normal Matoran Universe, where Spherus Magna was whole again. The new ruling party of Spherus Magna, named Councilus Magna, was consisted of Helryx, Takanuva, and some other warriors from Metru Nui and from Bara Magna. Curatos was taken out of his universe because of a new program initiated by the council--the League of Guardians program--and Curatos was to be the leader of this elite warrior defense team.

Despite protesting against more experiments, Curatos was eventually taken by the council and fitted with new armor from Artahka, dubbed the Shadowproof armor, which was designed to repel Shadow energy from both inside the armor and outside of it. So, Curatos' reactive shadow energy was completely locked in the armor save his right hand, where he could channel shadow energy. The armor itself, because of its protection against shadow, also provided some light-based energy to use. Curatos also gained added strength, speed, agility, and endurance due to both sets of experiments on him.

A few years after the first armor prototype, things were starting to go a bit haywire. The light based powers of the first suit were nullifying Curatos' darkness powers, and he grew especially weak to his own powers that he used. He commissioned Artahka to make him a second suit of armor, one that had lighting based powers instead of light. That way, Curatos' darkness was supercharged with electricity, like the Toa Inika were, and he wasn't weakened by his own suit of armor. He kept this suit of armor in prime condition; that is, while the peace still lasted.

That peace, however, was short lived. The Great Beings began to feel jealous of their creations, seeing that they lived peaceful lives together, Matoran and Agori, Toa and Glatorian, going hand in hand. The Great Beings, meanwhile, were greedy, and many of them had been cursed by their own creations. So the Great Begins created a new species--the "perfect hunters"--to wipe the life off of Spherus Magna so that the Great Beings could start anew. As large numbers of villagers suddenly vanished with Toa unable to mount a counterstrike, it was the duty of Curatos and his League to spearhead the defense of Spherus Magna. Obviously, Curatos' old armor was more for show than for battle--but this time, it was Curatos himself who designed the armor and its numerous added weapons capabilities. The result was the Matrix Armor, a balance of defensive gold plates and tremendous compatibility with things like machine guns and shoulder cannons, plus an added HUD interface and a more rigid structure. It will be put to the test when Curatos leads his troops into battle...the War for Spherus Magna has begun.

Front.

Side. Still best angle.

Back.

All new feet, now custom, plus new custom lower legs with added silver on the zamor sphere bases. Instead of a Hordika leg supporting the zamor sphere base like last version, the leg is now completely dependent on the zamor base. It's a bit less sturdy, but worth it.

Back of feet. I like the Inika shoulder armor.

Legs. All new HF armor piece on an Inika thigh armor, and the same Metru-shoulder-Hordika-foot combo like last version.

Side of leg. Greebles!

Back of upper leg. There's a broken piece here, see if you can find it.

Torso. Now with HF chest armor and added silver spikes! It looks a lot stronger now.

Side of torso, with the Metru foot side armor.

Back, featuring added daggers and a better aesthetic look.

All new, completely custom, redesigned arm. The shoulders were the entire basis for the revamp in the first place. I'd say it was a success. Newly designed gauntlets too.

Shot of the HF armor in the gauntlet.

Dat shoulder.

Top of the torso. Look at those angles.

And finally, the head. Now with a trans-neon-orange robot hand stuck in his eye, he can see better in the battlefield!

Shot of the apparatus that holds his Heads Up Display.

He can retract the HUD, but I kinda like the asymmetrical look with it.

Standing...and stuff.

Ninja kick! Unfortunately he's resting on the backboard; he can't balance on one leg. He's really bulky.

Powering up. If you paid attention, you woulda seen the black rod kinda sticking out of his chestpiece; I realized that it needed a purpose. So after a lot of testing, I came up with an ingenious idea: if you plug a Kraata on that piece, his shadow powers are amplified. Looks like Curatos is getting a mighty big upgrade with this super rare Shadow Kraata.

"WHERE'S THE JOKER!?"

Facepalming from the last pic.

On to the gauntlet weapons! Here we have his daggers, now the correct size thanks to those HF spikes.

Shink!

Dagger pose.

Another dagger pose, slightly more intense.

"You want some of this?"

Flamethrowers!

FWOOSH!

Lighting up. Well, igniting his gauntlet...Curatos doesn't smoke, smoking is a joke.

Roasting a marshmallow, a Guardian favorite.

More flamethrowing!

Firebending! You guys should watch Legend of Korra. Awesome show.

Here you see this 3-length rod stuck here. What could it possibly be for...?

Cha-ching! Wrist-mounted machine guns!

Standing all epic.

"Get some!"

Intense I'm-gonna-kneel-on-the-ground-and-spray-you-with-bullets move.

Curatos: Machine gun commando.

Standing up tall.

"Now if you look here, at my shoulder..."

"...you'll see the fingers on my shoulder pad can raise up and a connection point on my torso flip up."

For what, Curatos? A Midak Skyblaster shoulder cannon!

"You're on the wrong end of the barrel, kid."

Kneeling and stabilizing.

Dual wielding?!? #crazyawesome

Machine guns, two massive shoulder cannons equipped with secondary missiles, and you think you're gonna get out of this alive? That's straight-up, HE-spewin', dee-vine intervention!

One of my favorite pics. He looks like a decked out commando here.

"Now, for some external weapons..."

The mighty Goldsword!

As the name suggests, it is a sword that is gold.

It ignites similarly to a lightsaber from Star Wars, only not as powerful and more stylized.

Poster shot 1.

Behold, the Vohtarak shield! Taken from the shell of a Vohtarak in Berserker mode (he somehow managed to kill it), Curatos painted it gold and uses it in battle, with some trans-red detail.

Um...holding it.

How it is held.

The most iconic and only remaining weapon of all three versions, the Dark Energy Shredder!

Like a boss.

The trans-neon-orange details are not only an aesthetic addition; the HUD on Curatos' head relays information from the neon orange scanners on all of his weapons. So, the weapon itself scans the enemy and his attacks, and relays strategies and advice back to the HUD and to Curatos.

Dual handed grip. Epic shot here too.

Hi-yah!

Swinging the shredder at your face.

Poster shot 2.

Sword and shield classic pose!

In the midst of a fierce battle. Or something.

His staff returns as the Dark Energy Staff in v.3!

Completely revamped, now with three prongs and tubes running down the handle.

Holding it behind him. Super terrible posture though.

PEEWWWWW!!!

Firing at something slightly above him.

Poster shot 3.

As most Toa and Matoran and Agori and Glatorian are, shorter beings look up to the Guardian like this. Super imposing, amirite?

"Now, of course, how could we forget..."

"...the completely revamped and reenergized Dark Energy Machine Gun Turret!"

Preparing to pity tha foo.

Holding the turret on his knee. It's pretty heavy.

Makes sense, of course, to use a double-handed grip when firing.

RATATATATATATATATAT

Reloading, or maybe preparing for an air strike.

"Yaarrrrggghhhh!!!" Those shields are pretty sharp on the edges, too.

Click click. Say your last words.

A shot of all of the weapons.

Special shot of the staff. Three pronged, with a ring running through the prongs to gather energy from Curatos.

Special shot of the turret. Those trans-orange details not only serve as sensors, but as "energy packs" to provide the turret with a hefty amount of ammunition.

Now...let's move on to some cool shots!

Another shot of him standing. Think I might've went a bit overboard?

A test on some lighting. Looks pretty nice.

Ready for anything.

Looks like he's about to beat up some tiny little Agori that got on his nerves.

Hand shot! Imagine the energy cackling in his palms!

Some kind of weird pose. Not sure where I was going with this.

Ordering his troops in battle.

A pretty nice profile shot. Maybe looking over the battlefield?

You're about to feel that blade on your neck.

Catching himself on the ground, and preparing to return a volley of darkness energy. You could imagine an explosion or something in the background. Maybe a good job for some Photoshop people?

Super awesome dagger shot! Another one of my fav pics.

Vaulting with dagger in the gauntlet.

A shot from the overhead. This is actually one of the best shots because it looks like a completely white background, without any lines from the backboard, and I didn't even mean to do that.

Clonies don't stand a chance.

Mugshot. What a dapper fellow.

A final poster shot.

Widescreen poster shot of the above.

Bye guys!

Well, that's it! That was quite a ton of code to manage. Whew! This is the first time that I've finished with Curatos and did not have anything that I wanted to change--he's pretty damn good for all I know. That was a total of 107 photos, and I seriously hope you enjoyed them all. Please, rate and comment, and I'd really appreciate some likes to get this my most popular creation!

Additionally, if any of you are good at photoshop, like Galaxus or Kyle Peckham or anyone willing to try, could you try to make a poster of Curatos? You can choose any photo you want.

Thank you for watching!

Quoting The Traveler Everything about this build is awesome! the weapons are all cool, and every part of Curatos' body uses parts very creatively, creating a look that's very solid yet loaded with greebles! The only flaw I see is that the torso's kind of big for those arms and legs, and even that's fairly easy to ignore.
Yeah he's gettin kinda fat isn't he...I'm trying to see what I can do with some thinner side armor to slim down his upper body. Thanks and glad you like him!

This is really the definitive Curatos version! Really OUTSTANDING! The colour scheme looks much more like some sort of... golden diving suit now. And as gold is awesome... Guess this is really crazy-awesome! :D (Oh, and he's not Hero Factory free now, isn't he? :-P)

Wonderful moc. Torso is a bit awkward in the middle from the front view, and the daggers are more like hidden blades. But still a really good moc, nice weapons.

Quoting Legofreak2444 ~ I personally prefer the former version. It had a rustic, steampunkish feel to it. But I can see this is sort of like the next step in Curatos's evolution, and he's still epic. I love all the #crazyawesome (hehe) greebles and weapons. :D
Yeah, I kinda wanted to get rid of that and put in more smooth armor plating (the future is not as steampunk maybe...?) but I do see that appeal of rusticness. Thanks for the like!

Quoting Kane Sagar I love the whole MOC! Awesome work here. I wish I could make stuff like this. A few things though: He's really buff and bulk which I love about him but I feel that the Daggers, and the Goldsword don't work on him. The guns, fire, and staff really wrok for him because there big and cause a lot of damage! I reckon you should give him a big custom hammer! But that's just me. But I love the MOC itself and can't wait to see more!
Ooh! Big custom hammer...I'll take that into consideration. Glad you liked it!

Crazy awesome indeed. LOVE IT ! I really love the gold and how you over stacked armor over armor over armor ! He's bulky, huge, filled and awesome. Really well done. I can't believe you used Zamor launchers in the legs, that's really impressive ! It must have been a pain to build this but the end result is just jaw dropping. oh and nice HUD ! Oh and as soon as you kept wipping out weapons I kept saying OHHHHH ! Honestly, this is now my favorite self moc out there, I don't want to regret saying that !
