My entry for the 2012 MocOlympics Round 1
Category : "I Am The Walrus"
About this creation
The link to the 2012 MocOlympics
We all know (well, we all should...) that it’s John Lennon who sang "I Am The Walrus"... But what if John had REALLY been a walrus ? Let’s have a look...

There would have been hysterical crowds of penguins chasing John on the ice shelf. HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII !!!!!!...

Even an "Elementary penguin singing hare krishna" !

This one wants his White Album signed by John...

After meeting Yoko, John stood up for good causes, like protesting against global warming...

And finally settled in a more quiet family life, with Yoko and little Sean...

"Pretty little policemen in a row"

The whole thing
A few random shots :

Without the figs.

The cliff and entrance to the "building".

Guess the color of this submarine !

The piano. Can’t figure out how to make it more snotty :)

Oops ! Sorry... Dark Side Of The MOC.
And now that I’m through with this, I can enjoy a good cup of tea !

Commentary :
This is my first contest entry ! Being a Beatles fan (and 60’s-70’s music in general), it was difficult for me to choose a category... I didn’t expect it to be this huge, but the walrus was the first thing I built and then I made half a dozen penguins, and it became obvious this wouldn’t stand on a 32x32 baseplate...
I spent a long time on the scenery (my first snow/rock work) and was afraid not to be able to put the piano together in time, but it came out pretty quickly last sunday night. It’s also the first time I build without any sketch – I always draw a lot before the first brick – and I’m pleased with how it all turned out... Hopefully the judges will be too !
Thanks to the admins for organizing this contest, it is just great !
That’s all, folks ! Good luck to everyone !

Wow! I'm big fan of the Beatles and I'm sure that John would love that! Excellent work with walrus and pinguins! And "Warm is over!", such a good idea! |

Just superb. It was a real pleasure to look at this and every photograph seemed to unveil a new detail, another Beatles reference or a clever technique. The Walrus and penguins are full of character, the scenery works brilliantly and the little nods here and there (warm is over is genius) add so much. Well done, great entry and good luck. Oh, and Dave is a big Beatles fan - check out his 'Day in the life' done for this contest three years ago, he's too modest to boast about it but it's one of my fave builds.
I'll go check it out right now! Thank you so much for this comment, I truly appreciate! It's also a relief to hear that "warm is over" does the trick, because english is not my birth language... |

I was great until Yoko Ono stepped in and ruined it for everyone. Kidding. Nice build.
I know but you see, I had to do her (I mean BUILD her!) because this MOC is meant to be a historical/biographical study of the evolution of pop music under various influences :) |

cool i like all the penguins and the scenery also the piano, but the Walrus was a little skinny (i think), and it was a really easy guess of the sub color... PINK, wait i meant YELLOW! or is it pink... hmm i don't know
The periscope is grey, so the sub should be green... Wait, what ??? Thanks a lot! |
