About this creation
When I was young I loved Lego. Still do. Now I'm encouraging my children to love it as well and they've moved beyond the simple playing to my favourite stage, now-we've-built-it-how-do-we-make-it-better.
Here are some very quick pictures (takeon on a phone in miserable kitchen lighting, hence poor quality) of our rapid kitbashing efforts using four pre-existing models and a handful of bricks.
The basis for the larger ship, which now sports 3 astronauts, is the true classic 891 from 1979, which originally had space for 2 pilots but now has a much larger rear wing, a VIP seat, fold down controls for the VIP and additional boosters underneath.
The other vehicles, two of which came from the Supply Base 6930, have been gently greeblified with lights, tools, details, etc. (I just realised that the grey oxygen tank that always appeared on those old 4x6 buggies fell off the front of one when I took the picture) and the last small ship in the background is actually a major rebash of the flyer with the Robot Command Centre 6951, which now has fixed wings and three little thrusters instead of the original one.
With supper rapidly approaching all were hurled back into the black hole that is the Space Lego bucket, who knows what they'll be like when we next get them out...
