My version of Scrat the squirrel from Ice Age, built exclusively with parts from Designer set 4884 Wild Hunters.
About this creation
When mentioning Ice Age, the character that most people seem to remember directly is this cute little Squirrel Scrat. Always looking for those precious acorns, which are more like unicorns to him; (almost) impossible to get hold of.
My main focus was to convert most of Scrat's characteristics to LEGO, but also sticking to one set only. In the end I managed to put in quite a few joints to make Scrat as lively and expressive as possible.
Another day in Scrat's life. Optimistic as every morning he starts his search for precious acorns.
But as so often, after a full day of searching, late in the afternoon he's exhausted and disappointed, with still no sign of acorns in those terrible cold conditions.
Perhaps he should call it a day, while he's humming the 'Ice, ice, baby' tune.
But then suddenly, he smells something so delicious... Could that be the aroma of an acorn, up there?!
In his enthusiasm he forgets all the painful experiences of the day, and starts running like crazy. Yes, that's definitely the unmistakable smell of an acorn!
After a good climb Scrat tries to reach the ledge, and with his final strength, standing on his toes, he stretches himself completely.
Yes, he made it! And there's his acorn! Scrat is so thrilled with excitement.
There's no way he will ever let this one drop again, holding his precious acorn as tight as he can.
Well, this was the end of Scrat's little adventure. Hopefully you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed building him...
(Oh, but it was a pain to take good pictures, because of those browny/ tan colours. I had to do a lot of editing to get them sort of look ok...)
This is so awesome. So, the initial thought when I look at this is, "Wow, that really looks like Scrat." Then I see how posable you made him, and I'm even more impressed. Creating an expression from LEGO is very difficult, (I've never tried it, and don't know if I have that in me, but I've been messing with LEGO long enough to have an idea), but you have really put some life into this guy with that expression on his face. Then I see that you limited yourself to one set's worth of pieces. My mind is officially blown. Brilliant, sir.
Nice to see something other than vehicle from you. I love this set, it's one of my all time favourite creator sets. and I love what you have made from it. Scrat looks great in LEGO! I really like the way you made his eyes.
