Library Plaza: Town with subway train station below
Library Plaza - Above & Below
About this creation
Library Plaza

Scene showing the walled garden, library, Tudor-style Curios shop and subway entrance above; subway train station itself below. Enjoy!

This MOC was displayed at the Wenham MA Museum from 12 Sep until late October 2012 as part of their "Lego Sculptures" exhibit, and then won "Best in Show" at Brattleboro VT's Lego Competition in Sep 2012.

This MOC will be at BrickFair New England 8-11 May, 2014! If in the area, check it out!

"Best in Show" -- Brattleboro Museum 5th Annual Lego Competition -- Oct 2012

A nice view from the right ...

A general, closer, view from the right ...

A nice overall view from the left ...

A general, closer, view from the left. You can see the mad scientists out and about with their 4 remote-controlled robots ...

A close-up of the hustle & bustle of town life in Library Plaza ...

A close-up of the Tudor house/shoppe, selling antiques and curios. Some of these could quite possibly be viewed on sale in the bay window ...

A view from the right of the Tudor Shop, showing what gave Mr Van Gogh his inspiration; such a great pity he couldn't paint to save his life!! ...

A view of the interior of the library. The second level contains the internet/computer workstations, and below on the firt floor, you can make out the book stacks ...

The very overgrown walled garden next to the library - you can just make out the (still functioning) water fountain. You can also see the main statue; the two other statues are just out of sight, but they are there. Watch out also for the dodgy blokes scaling the wall ...

A view of the back - lots of overgrowth here too ...

Above & below ...

A view along the platform looking the other way, showing this is Platform #1 ...

A view along the platform, showing the signboard announcing train arrivals and departures ...

Platform ...

View from the tunnel to the left, looking down the platform ...

Quoting Tim C This is a great piece of work. You spared no detail in this. I like the interior of the library. The stairs in the middle really set it off. You did a good job on the cars at street level. That really adds to the realism of your build here. The subway is what really has my attention here. I love all the detail that you included here, right down to the signs. More great work.
Thanks, Tim! Yes, I love to add a lot of details to my builds, so that you can always see something you missed first time round when you look at it again. Of course, that means I'll probably keep tweaking and adding!

Quoting James Mckinnon I like how you've made this scene very compact. I think it'd be nice to have the roof of the subway a grey color instead of green, but that's just me. Nicely done.
Thank you. I used the 16x16 and 8x16 green plates from "Log Cabin" to bind the front columns to each other and to the bracing in the back, so that ios why the roof is green. Maybe after review (once I get the model back), I'll revisit how the columns are held in place. But thanks for the feedback!
