This is my "Blue Mech". It features a four-fingered claw and a four-barreled laser cannon. It has a matching minifig pilot, which may be hard to see. You may also notice my attempt at greebling. It's so great when done right, and the only way to do it right is practice.Unfortunately, I keep getting this idea that one stud or one clip is a good connection. I am looking forward to making more solid piloted mech in the future.
About this creation
Claw arm shot. Each claw is the piece that looks like two 1x2 plates. (together at one extreme they look like a 2x2 plate, and at the other a 1x4) Please excuse my use of non-technical part reference.
The cannon arm. In case you are wondering, the railing there was actually indirectly suggested by my brother. He was kid of mad how well mine was going, so he challenged me to use the rail. Luckily, it fit right in where it is now.
The minifig. It's always nice to just go through all of you tens of hundreds of minifig parts finding the best torso, legs, head, and accessories. I am a big collector of interesting minifig parts on Bricklink, so the choices for me are many.
Just a little departure from the normal. Here I attempted to create my own arm joint - which went only so-so. Better than this is...
...this. Lego made these for a reason, and so I need to get used to using them if i want stronger mecha. Unsurprisingly, the right arm held in place much better than the left.
