Dawn Forge HCM-7A2 Castigator II
"When normal mechs just won't cut it!"
About this creation

Before we begin, I would like to apologize for being gone so long. The causes were the start of soccer, marching band, school, and the purchase of Skyrim, which effectively destroyed my LEGO addiction, as well as all my time. But I'm back now and ready to fall into addiction again...

I would also like to apologise for the poor photography.

The HCM-7A2 Castigator II is a complete overhaul of the iconic mech. Everything was updated, nothing untoched, until all that remained of the origional mech was the general profile.

It is a heavy support mech designed to provide overwhelming firepower and crush all resistance, but it also serves as heavy long range or direct fire artillary.

The HCM-7A2 boasts enhanced 14-inch armor, which can take constant and repeated abuse.

The additional weight is offset by a sound internal frame and more powerful hydraulics in the legs.

The mech retains a similar two-powerplant system as the origional, but they have been modified and refitted for increased output. The HCM-7A2 has not one, but two power-hungry weapons, making the system a must for optimal leg output.

Many sensor upgrades have occured as well, the targeting system is so effective that this mech is often used as artillary. The mech can "see" in every spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, which includes light.

The mech contains two new Class-3 AIs, which offer valuable input and can controll the mech if neccesarry. It can act as a copilot, or fire the weapons for pinpoint shots. It often gives wise and accurate advice during battle, and even has clearance to issue commands.

The bulky two-powerplant system eliminates the need for hoses (part limits...) but requires sizeable heat sinks.

The pilot controlls have been streamlined for ease of operation, and the cockpit armor was improved.

Two EagleEye 9 sensors and two ECT camera turrets are only half the sensing capabilities of this mech. The rest is internal or elsewhere on the mech's body.

Now to the part you've all been waiting for: the weapons! The HCM-7A2 is unusual in that it contains a laser weapon: the DEW-49. This 400 kw electric laser can melt through 3ft of concrete in 1 second at its highest setting. At its lowest setting, it can be a super targeting beam for the railgun. There is a lense cover for the weapon that opens when in use.

Two LRAM artillary missiles are by the laser. They are available in nuclear and conventional, and are devastating against fixed fortifications.

The weapon makes a bright blue light at the "muzzle", but the beam is usually invisible, except in dense fog, smoke, dust, etc.

Two mortar rockets flank the laser. Functionally, they behave like giant mortars.

A rack of AIM-61 anti-tank/mech missiles are on the other side, they have a large range and high penetration.

On the other side sits the mighty EMC-67 railgun, one of the most powerful in the Dawn Forge. It hurls 110mm ferrous tungsten slugs at mach 20, which is plenty able to destroy all battlefield targets. It has a 55 second charging time, which neccecitates the other weapons existance on the mech.

The ammo belt strikes again!

Staring at a very sure death.

The minigun on the bottom of the nose is used to "destroy those unworthy of the other weapons".

The colors of the mighty 75th Armored Division, a sight enemies fear the most...

Diesel intake.

The legs on the HCM-7A2 are shorter, but nearly twice as powerful.

They propel the mech to a modest top speed of 38 mph.

The flat-footed stance increases stability.

Diesel exhaust.

Rear vents.

Fire the laser!

My attempt at photoshop.

Until next time!

Nice re-build! This is really great, but I think I like the original better. I'm not sure. They are both excellent!

Cool innovative weapons, but the shape is a bit blocky for a dawn forge mech I think.

That last photo was cool, It forced me to imagine that the mech had just blown up my shelter and was not "staring" down at me, preparing to kill.... insert dramatic music here :)
