This is a mosaic of the Koopa Troopa from the original Super Mario Bros.
About this creation
Super Mario Bros is one of my favorite videogames so I thought that I would make a mosaic of a character from that game. I had already made a Goomba and Mario , so I thought I'd try doing something a little bit bigger this time. This was a quick build. First I looked up a picture of the Koopa Troopa on Google Images. Then I used that picture to build it. Old videogame characters are actually really easy to make. If you want to try doing a mosaic yourself, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to try to make one of an old videogame character.

I've built a few SMB moasics as well. I just wish that I had a digital camera and more LEGO in the colors that I need as well as the sizes that I need too.

Not bad, but, like you said, it's a bit too simple. Sometimes simple can be good, but in mosaics it is not. Try doing something that is not just copied pixel to pixel from a picture; try adding your own creative touch such as shadowing and background.
