Technic PF 12 Legged Walking 'Crab'

A Power Functions walking machine with 12 legs. It can move forwards, backwards, and steer like a tank. Based on the mechanisms of Theo Jansen's Strandbeest. Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_Jansen if you're interested in his work. Be sure to catch my video of it in action. Enjoy!

It's smiling!




IR sensor + 2 M motors, one for each set of legs.


PF battery box at the bottom to lower it's CG. You can see from the video that sometimes it's unstable when it walks. If the battery box were mounted higher it would be worse!


I was partly inspired by this motorized version of the strandbeest I saw at a Theo Jansen exhibition in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
