Rare Ruby Recovery Rover
Ronnie's Rare Ruby Recovery Rover roamed round recovering ravishingly red, rare rhomboidal rubies.
About this creation

Here we see the Ruby Rover with a typical load of rubies.

The rover had a large engine, big wheels and loads of ground clearance for travelling in rough terrain, searching for the precious stones.

Once a ruby field was found, the Rover transformed into a walking robot in order to fill the bucket with gems.

The front tyres acted as ballast and helped to stabilise the robot.

This is a rare view, taken in the maintenance garage. It shows the linkage between the rear axles and the driver's cab. The bar for unlocking the transforming mechanism can also be see at the very back of the Rover.

Beast! Love the high suspension on this, so that it can actually clear high obstacles the tyres don't hit. Man you've been busy!

Quoting David Alexander Smith You can't go wrong with a grab-claw. The transformation capacity is excellent, and unlike most Transformers, actually facilitates a purpose.
Thank you! I wanted to try a tranformer but I didn't want it to be about guns 'n' stuff, so I had to create a reason for it to transform. I was stuck for tools for the mech to use and the old Classic Space grab arm came to hand! I had to extend it with parts from the arms of people that my sister had in the late 1970's.

Quoting Tim C Some really nice technic work here. I like the transformation feature. The overall MOC is brilliantly conceived and well executed. I love the opening line as well. I tried saying it three times fast and my tongue fell off.
Thank you! There's most of my "new" technic beams in this MOC! Glad you liked the opening line. I'm waiting for the first alliterative comment now!

Quoting Broken Bricks Really original design, I like the transforming feature and the body looks to be high enough to transverse over any terrain. However I do not think the ruby bucket is big enough, it seems a bit dwarfed by the rest of the vehicle.
Thanks for your comments! Yes, I agree with you about the size of the bucket: it does look at bit wrong on the back of the truck. The next size of bucket I've got would have been too big and covered in studs, so I was a bit stuck.
