Ferrari SA Aperta
Okay, this car is my entry to 'Summer cars 2012 contest' which I got inspiration from my calender, which has this car for august. For those who don't know, its basically a convertible version of a Ferrari 599, built to celebrate Pininfarina's 80th birthday. It uses the engine from the 599 GTO. A word of warning, I am totally inexperienced at this scale, and, at the moment, would give myself a 3/5.
About this creation

I'm afraid at the moment the doors are the only functional part of the car. (Not counting the wheels, obviously) ;D

The interior is the only part I'm 100% happy with.

This is an entry for the Summer car contest, but if you live in England (as I do) the weather looks like this..

So you'll need a roof!

Don't worry, the grey parts on the roof are not because I lack red 1x4s, the real car looks like that!

So this is the first car I have ever built specifically for a contest, as this time, I decided I needed to come out of my comfort zone and try building at a larger scale. As I say, I am not really pleased with it, and will hopefully improve it before the deadline of September the first.

Quoting Harry Gravett I know how you feel, I feel the same with anything before my Lamborghini Diablo series cars, apart from my Caterham! Though this car is still good
Well in a way it shows how far we've come! Thanks Harry.

Quoting Loek Marcus Italian cars contest score: Outside detail: 17/20, inside detail: 15/20, Engine detail: 0/20 (there is no, sorry), Functions: 12/20, Bonus points: 16/20 (for outstanding detail on this scale). Total: 60/100. Good luck! Loek
Thank you! I will probably build another car for this contest, so stay tuned ;)

Quoting TheLegoNoitAll . good job i like how you made the back rounded, and the overall look is good (i cant find the right words) though i personally would get the 1x1 slopes for windows out for a larger scale, and i think you did an overall good job, especially for a first at this scale ;) you should probably try a classic muscle car for getting used to this scale :) i gave you 5-5 though if you were more experienced at larger scales i would give you 4/5 and also this is a lot better then a creator car;) if you want to know why its longer (to a more accurate length, the interior is better, and i just like it better:), by the way i'm building a car with the same door technic (as its common) dos yours have a rough opening and closing, i find it hard to close?
Thanks for the feedback :) Yes, thats the problem with this hinging. At On a larger scale though its not so much of a problem. Thanks :)

Quoting MortalSwordsman . For me this is an easy 5/5. The shape is very nice (especially at this scale) and the details and features are excellent. Good luck and I look forward to more like this from you.
Wow thanks a lot! Perhaps I'll start building in this scale more often :) But maybe try to choose easier cars in the future;) Thanks a lot for the comment, its much appreciated! :)

Quoting Lego Builders Yes, I agree - I've rated this 3/5. It's obviously good for this scale and I can see that you've put a lot of effort into this but I think it could be better, with practice and more experience at this scale. Firstly, the front is too boxy, but I'm not sure how you can work around it. I think there should be more curves on places such as the hood, too. Maybe replace the tiles there with some arrangements of slope or something similar? I do really like the rear because of the rear diffuser; it's not very accurate but it looks nice. Good luck in the contest. -LB Jr.
Thanks for the comment, I agree with you about the boxiness, and about my (lack of) experience. I have spent hours fiddling with the front and have tried about 10 different fronts, but this is still the closest to the real car that I can come up with. And using slopes on the hood is a good idea, but all my red slopes are in use already.. And if you look at the rear of the real car, the diffuser is, in fact, quite similair to mine. A new target for me is to get a rating off you that's higher than 3/5 ;-)
