it s a good thing to have containers, I store pre-made scenes and vehicles too, in a very similar fashion, but, my sorting system, is very precise, and function oriented, [check my 'cyberlab' post] it s great to be organized, it s efficient, try to add civilians with your military posts, that d be even cooler, I see you could make something just FANTASTIC with these!
Thanks! I'd like to set up a huge city invasion-scene one day but i have no space to set it up where i live now. Some time soon i hope! You have a very nice and efficient system of sorting but to me the 'everything in one pile' system makes it easier to 'wander off' and come up with new ideas and builds while working on the planned build :-) |

Hehe. I meant IRL. Almost All of my pieces are strewn across the floor. I find it easier to build in LDD just because of the organized, and availability, of all the parts. I'm trying to add more IRL creations (I have two right now) because there's more that you can do. But I find that I suck at not building in LDD. :P
That's ok, i suck at not building 'live' ;-D Well the 'strewn across the floor' method is pretty much what i use too. With a separate pile for parts i need or think might be useful to have at hand. These parts end up in a temp-bin if it's a lengthy build so i don't have to look for them again. So to keep it simple, all you really need is two bins: A large one for the main pile and a smaller one for the bits you pick out :-) |

O hai. Can u come over to mah place to organize mah LEGO for meh? I haz too many to organize by meself and I dunno how to organize. K thanks bai.
Heh that would prolly leave a virtual mess! You'd need ONE bin that's large enough to hold all the loose bits of your collection :-D I don't know how many part are in LDD but from the looks of some LDD builds, more than would fit inside the dome of a nuclear plant! |

I am in that same situation also, No where to put the huge builds. Also, I hate doing the massive builds because taking them apart is pain. SO, my solution to this dilema is to limit my builds to 75x32 bases. If it can't be done in that amount of space, then I ain't build'n it! Z
Thanks for your comment :-) Well with the size of my collection and the volume of available space to build in, even 75x32 studs would be a far reach for me. My biggest build (ICBM launch vehicle) is 76x12 studs and it would be very difficult for me to find enough usable bricks in my stock to build anything larger. Not to mention finding a spot to place the build when completed! |

A fine collection. I too need to store my Lego like this. It can sometimes limit creativity because everything is stored away and it is difficult to start building. Good luck finding inspiration. How about a Humvee.
Thanks :-) I agree! I can't really build anything huge because there would be nowhere to place it when it was finished. I still have a bit of room left for smaller builds though. About building a humvee: I actually already have a few different models, they will turn up in a group posting some time soon. But thanks for your suggestion, i am open to new ideas these days as i still lack inspiration :-) |

well, if i should show my complete collection,
with sets and everything, and MOCS, then i would need a bigger camera lince,
nice collection BTW.
I like the way you stacked your sets and MOCS inside thoose boxes, looks very compact.
I bet if you shake them alittle,
then they would be way smaller all of a sudden, hehe,
Thanks :-) Yeah i dread the day i drop one of the large bins on the floor while moving it! :-D - My guesstimate is that when everything is completely dismantled it will take up about one third of the current space needed. |

Okay, good to know. Better that than a dark age. ;)
Indeed! :-D I am a bit stomped as to what to build next though. I need to find another 'this i've gotta build!'-object. Any ideas? |

Nice! But "stacked, packed and ready for storage"? I hope that you're not putting the LEGO away for too long.
Thanks :-) No not at all, it's just that i have a small apartment so when i am not building things the collection needs to occupy the smallest space possible. Apart from one more planned post coming up soon though, it might be a while before i post something new. |
