Creep from the deep!
About this creation
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Round 3 of the 2012 Bio-Cup! The category for this round is vehicles, in this case, a disturbing, organic vehicle.

So here it is, a massive marine vehicle called the Grynsait (unscramble it!). The Grynsait originated as a research submarine used by the Matoran of Mahri Nui long before the Pit flooded to search for energized protodermis.

After mutagen entered the Pit, however, the sub and its Matoran operators mutated into an almost fully biological Rahi over the course of thousands of years of exposure. It now lives to terrorize all who dare encounter it.
Left side of the Grynsait. It measures 58 cm from fin tip to fin tip by 60 cm from tail to mandible.

A better view of the left fin.

Organic feelers the Grynsait uses to sense prey.

Evolved biological turbines that run on oxygen in the natural water of the Pit.

Tentacles have completely taken over the original windscreen.

The cockpit can open. I had a great picture of the Matoran inside but unfortunately it wouldn't upload. :(

The inside is large enough to comfortably seat two Av-Matoran.

Rare watch piece.

Rear view.

The only mechanical part of the Grynsait.

Ultimate Dume helmet!

Deadly tail. The trans-green glow attracts prey.

Hard to go wrong with six eyes, mandibles, and a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth!

The Matoran outside of their "vehicle". They literally act as the brains of the Grynsait. When it is injured, they share its pain, but only when inside of it.

Our hapless Matoran searches for sunken treasure...

...and notices danger approaching too late.

....

Thanks for viewing! Hopefully it wasn't too terrifying. Good luck to my opponent Fen Rek in the contest!

Now this is great. Great techniques and design. Its goes a bit too far on the organic aspect, I think, and if not by the inclusion of the pilots, I couldn't tell it was a vehicle. But perhaps thats a good thing, I dunno. In the end, this is just plain awesome, and I vote for you. |

the idea of the two matoran acting as the brain, and I'm amazed by the way you managed to fit in a cockpit and still make it look brilliant |

Quoting FEN REK
Well as soon as the word 'Vehicle' came up I knew I was boned. Great moc man. Total use of technic parts here and you even managed to incorporate actual mnatoran pilots so well done. I just checked the rules however and there's nothing to say that I can't submit something else before the due date which is still a few days away. I still don't think I'll win but I must correct my previous mistake.
Check with the judges first to at least make sure you can build a new creation. |
