‘The LEGO Annual Brick Show (LABS2012) will take place on July 14-15 in Christchurch. The event is sponsored by the University of Canterbury and it will take place at the Jack Mann Auditorium at 53 Solway Ave, Christchurch. The show will exhibit amazing LEGO models for all age groups. Enthusiasts and collectors will show their designs, collections and contraptions. The theme for this years show is: REBUILD, to support and get behind the rebuilding of Christchurch City. The exhibitors will include their visions of the future for Christchurch amongst a variety of wide-ranging other LEGO creations. Children will also have the opportunity to go hands on with dedicated LEGO activities in a dedicated LEGO play area.’
About this creation
(http://lug4x2.org/lego-annual-brick-show-2012-rebuild/)

Yes, that was an amazing show :)
This was my first ever LEGO show, and the first ever Official LEGO Show in New Zealand.
I had an amazing time… seeing these incredible MOCs IRL is WAY better than just seeing the pics on these ‘pages.
And it was great getting to meet those I knew from the ‘pages: NZ’s very own Leda Kat , (link's not working???) Thoy Bradley , Nick v. , and Chris Yee .

It was also nice meeting Richard Brown , and several other LEGO fans not on the ‘pages.

It was such an amazing feeling to walk through those doors, and being face-to-face with both FOLs and Nick V.’s MASSIVE dragon, lol :P

I was amazed at how many great builders there were in New Zealand. We had a pretty good turnout for a first! And the crowds blew us all away! I was expecting it to be empty occasionally and half-full most of the time… Instead we had people arriving 15minutes early, and a steady flow of people from them. We weren’t expecting such eagerness, so the location wasn’t the largest, unfortunately, and therefore the line grew… and grew… and grew… on the first ever LEGO show in NZ!!! Incredible :P
on the 2nd day the crowds had to wait 2 hours to get in, which is a pity for them, but amazing for us :P we had around 3000-4000 people go through the doors on the first day! I assume it was even larger on the 2nd day! We charge $1 for kids and $2 for adults, so we must have raised a bit of money for our chosen charity :)

Nick V working on his incredible dragon

This dragon is such a beast :P

its torso design is rather clever

...

his awesome sea-monster

...

LOVE his band :P

I had the amazing Thoy Bradley posted right next to me, which was fun :P I got to see a bit of his incredible build :)

with a working train to amuse the kids :)

it is an amazing build- seeing it in real life is so much more amazing than on MOCpages :P

...

I love the angle in his bridge :)

...

choo, choo!

Centuri Chan's builds

his chess pieces are really cool

mini Christchurch Cathedral

Sushi! yum! :D

NZ! :D

Leda Kat's incredibly detailed Doll's house

THIS is why you collect Friends sets :P

...

wonderful PU

...

...

Big diggers! These were by Richard Brown- it was amusing watching these tough, cool men quietly slip out there phones to photograph this beast :P all were too 'cool' to take any real intrest... but deep down... :D

Here he is setting up

...

...

Paul Critcher's massive collection display

I THINK these aren't sets...

they're pretty cool :P

Sam Borough's MASSIVE City display. He had TONS of trains going around this baby- it was great for the kids :)

...

...

...

...

Sam Butcher's SW and LOTR collection was impressive :P

...

...

Christchurch Cathedral

AWESOME window :P

...

Kiwi! :D

...

we brought in a earthquake simulator for the kids- they'd build duplo towers trying to get them to stay up :P

It wasn't a great big venue, but it was the right amount for the builders...

But not the right size for the crowds :P
They just styampeded through the ENTIRE time :P

one of those rare breaks in traffic :P

The MASSIVE line outside :D

finally, some pics of my display- that's Leda Kat in the green :)

Setting up

my tiny display :P

LWC Guy's build- we only thought of the idea of me taking his stuff down too late :(

A tower I built at the last moment :P

Leda Kat checks out my stuff :P

I hope you enjoyed!

God bless you all!

Tim

Quoting Sam Wright Amazing displays! I love how you did the earthquake simulator for the kids. I bet the kids who got to have a go will be talking and thinking about it for a long time now. Sometimes it's easy to forget that Lego is still a kids toy, and even though we adults spend countless hours on our builds and make sure that kids don't touch them at the risk of breaking them (in shows), it is still important for the kids to get some sort of interaction happening rather than just looking. So well done on achieving that. The rest of the show looks great too :-)
Thanks! yes, we need to remember the kids- especially in our displays- anything moving catches their attention, which, I guess, is why there were a few MOCs with trains... Thanks for the comment!
