Nexu Assault Tank Mk.I
"The Nexu, a predatory feline creature known for being incredibly agile and very deadly in a fight. The Nexu Assault Tank, with the same reputation but including immense armor."
About this creation
Presenting the Nexu Assault Tank Mk.I, the newest in fielded mobile armor! Designed originally for speed and maneuverability, We never expected the new treaded tank would turn out like it did. Immense size and thick durasteel armor plating quickly kicked away our original goal and replaced it with a new one: creating the biggest, nastiest treaded behemoth to ever reach the open battlefield. Later, the turret came into play, giving the Nexu its claws and teeth.

--Specifications--

-Model: Nexu Assault Tank Mk.I
-Class: Heavy Armor
-Tonnage: 87.3
-Power Source: VT-9120 Heavy-Duty EM Power Core Mk.31
-Max Speed: 80 MPH
-Armament: Dual Heavy Pulse Cannon Turret, four defense autoturrets

Ironically, despite being a rather large and heavy vehicle, this treated tank can make 80 MPH cross-country, and with its legs being attached by specialized EM "legs", the Nexu can easily cross even the roughest terrain with little effort. Its twin turret-mounted pulse cannons can punch through up to a foot and a half of solid high-grade durasteel armor, and has a rather high rate of fire. Unfortunately the Nexu is rather poorly equipped for combat against anything but other vehicles due to the restricted fire arc of its autoturrets, so the tank does well working in conjunction with lighter vehicles. The Nexu also has a small passenger compartment at its center for infantry to ride in.

Creator's notes: First of all, I'd like to request that you look at it in LDD. It's a rather large file, so that may not be possible, but I assure it's well worth it. This the first time I've done a tank, so the pictures are, in my opinion at least, pretty lame.

Second, I think I kinda failed on the tank's armament. It's surprisingly difficult to mount any kind of lighter weapons on it. And even in the case of the turret gun, I didn't have a clue what to call it. Unfortunately I have no clue what a "pulse cannon" is in common sci-fi media, and I just used the name because it sounded gun. I sorta just wanted some kind of weapon that had high penetration to go through thick armor easily then explode inside to knock out enemy heavy vehicles. I couldn't find anything like it in my knowledge of futuristic sci-fi weapons, and ordinary shell-launching guns just didn't cut it.

Inspiration for this monster came mostly from a number of vehicles on Halo Wars, particularly the Cobra. Yes, in case you're wondering, I did indeed just mount the Titan II's two cannons on a tank turret and call them "pulse cannons". :P No, I'm not so unoriginal that I didn't reverse-engineer the cannons and built something unique, but even still credit goes to Chunkblaster as usual. :P

I like the way that you've done the individual units for the tank treads. Your commnet that they might not hold up in real Lego is interesting. LDD is great like that because it lets you experiment and also build with s worth of virtual bricks. Nice work!

Quoting Dawn of Greatness This is a beastly tank! I personally would have prefered shell cannons, but the current armament works nice.
I would have too, but then, sort of on a whim, I added those transparent blue pieces and they looked plain awesome. And shells can't quite do what I was wanting from this tank anyway.

That's a big tank. It's gotta be almost twice as wide as the collab hovertank. Nice job!

Awesome job on this, it looks great. @Daniel: Treads aren't that hard, really. Especially if you have a starter template to round off the sides.

Heh, Apparently our definitions of "Pulse-Cannon) are wuite different; My pulse cannons cant punch through a foot and a half of durasteel, but they an scortch it about 3 inches deep, disrupt deflector sheilds, and Short Out, Overload, Fuse, or Polarize, or otherwise disable any Electrical Circuts, Power Couplings, or Electrplasma Conduits. At any rate, This is one heck of a tank!

Quoting Banjax 2077 Wow you should save up enough money to make the real thing.
I'd love to. Unfortunately I'm not sure if the ball joints connecting the treads to the body would hold up well in real life. This thing is pretty big. That and I don't think I can get very many of those pieces in the "lemon metallic" color, or in any camo-ish color for that matter. Even still, I'll definitely consider.

Regarding pulse cannons, I think the definition is somewhat ambiguous. I've used the term before and nobody yelled at me for being inaccurate, so my best guess is that it's some form of laser or other beam weapon that fires in pulses instead of a steady stream. But regardless of what pulse cannons may or may not be, it looks like you've got yourself one kick-butt tank here! Great work!

Quoting LTE the Mechanier Excellent creation, Arik! I love the cannons on the top, even though you "reverse engineered" them from the Titan II.
Thanks! And actually I built those cannons from scratch, even though they were based fairly heavily on the Titan II's guns. And the rest of the turret is my own design as well.
