First of all, thank you all for the kind words. It's a simple little build, but sometimes they're the most fun! And I do love Squidman. As for the legs, they are official LEGO but fairly uncommon and released back in 2010 on only one minifigure: "LEGO Club Max". He was handed out as a freebie in the LEGO Brand Retail stores to LEGO Club members. He was also a key chain that didn't sell all that good and quickly went on clearance for $0.99. Today, the leg assembly alone costs ...an arm and a leg ;-)
