How I build my first MOC after my Dark Ages

About this creation

As I am currently not producing any postable results I decided to share my origins.

Starting with my old LEGOs I try to visualise my idea.
This really is not the beginning but I am glad I started to make pictures.

The base was redesigned, as it had not resembled any height.

And again a redesign because it was still to blocky.

After I got my very first Bricklink order I started to rebuild and again redesign the base.

I wanted to create the look of an ice cave with the trans blue and trans clear studs in the back.

This effect not really shows in the final result .

So to all who thought with the look at the first pictures 'I can build this' do not stop there and keep improving.
I guess most of us started in a similar way and maybe this makes you think about the old days.

Wow that's really interesting! You might get another chance to display your LOTR building prowess this December. There's something big in the works.

Oh yes, I remember this as if it is just a year ago ... wait, it IS just a year ago. Still one of your creations that I like most. Maybe now, with all the official figs out, you should consider building another LotR themed MOC.
