MXSC-R1-Old: Out of Retirement
About this creation
"I thought I was done... Dick had done a good job in the past years but his body is even more broken than mine these days."

"I don't know how they found it. The Lazerous Pit. Killer Croc, Riddler, Two Face... Joker. They used it to become young and strong again and now... they're back."

"It's been nearly twenty years since I've worn this mask. Twenty years I've known peace. Twenty years..."

"And now it's time again. Time for me to take back Gotham. Make the streets safe and perhaps... time to rid the world of these fiends once and for all. I'm back. I AM... The Batman."

Fourth Wall Commentary: Built for Mr. Xenomurphy's super hero contest, in the "Old" category.

Here's the rules for my category:
"Category 1.1 Old
What if a superhero becomes old? Will he still fight crimes as usual or just save kittens from trees? Build a vig (min 8 x 8, max 16 x 16) and show us that old superheroes are still useful. Or not
A reasonable(!) overhang is allowed, like a plant, arm, leg, etc."

And here's a pic of the entire moc in regular lighting. The top outter perimeter of the moc is 15 by 14 studs and I think the window ledges bring it out to juuust about 15 by 16. I'm pretty happy with it but wish I coulda done better with the bat signal. The basic concept was what if Batman had to come out of retirement to take on all his old foes again. Being as those four are the only figs I have and that's about all that would fit on the base anyway...

I had a few other concepts in mind for this contest including doing one with Darkman (as well as a few other ideas) but time constraints dictated that I go with this idea... ahh, real life really sucks sometimes. But really, it's nice to build something small in between the larger projects. Keeps the mind fresh and the techniques in practice.

There's so many AWESOME entries in this contest and if you haven't had the chance yet I suggest you check them out! I already have my four favorites in mind to move on to round two (and no, none of them are mine haha)and can't wait to see what the builders come up with! Good luck everyone!

Till next time true believers!
~Chris.

Hey Chris, a lovely build this! I'm not in the habit of leaving comments with links in them, but for the past two years a small contingent of us MOCers have been designing a contest rather like your MocOlympics. I'm not expecting you'll be able to play, but on the odd chance that you would like to try out something quite similar to your own system (though a little smaller): http://mocpages.com/group.php/18639 ~Ian

Your score = 9 > A lot of emotion in this one, the story is visible even on characters faces. Also a cool presentation, the dark atmosphere adds a lot to the scene

You know what mate? I was waiting for a punchline that didn't come. But i'm really glad that it didn't. Solemn, imposing and broody - helped no end by the lighting. The broken, worn down retired Bats evokes TDKR which is always going to tick a box for me. Love the gothicy build details and the fig posing. Well done Chris, good luck.

This is a very serious take on the category 'old', Chris. Ian and Jonas went into a similar direction, though with a little bit of humor - which I really like. You creation is impressively solemn, which I like as much. Gladly, I'm not one of the judges. Batman's postures in your pics are amazing. Good luck in the contest.

You made it! Awesome MOC. I found the story a bit cheesy (like, "Oohh my destiny is once again thrust upon me" or that sort of thing), but that's just a matter of taste. The tower is so very "gotham" :)

Lots of atmosphere with this creation Chris, as befitting the Dark Knight. And yes, the constraints of one's collection can be frustrating but I think this is a great moc regardless. All the best in this most awesome of comps!

Chris, I really like the lighting you created for this build; I get the sense of impending nightfall (or Knightfall, maybe?). The architectural details are very well done and the story (your strength) is well represented. I give it my bat seal of approval. ~Dave
