MXSC-R1-Fail- Super Global Warming
A House + Bad Location+ Ice + Hot Sun = Submerged Fortress of Solitude
About this creation
So this is my entry for the first round of the great Mr. Xenomurphy’s Superhero Contest (Link Here).

At first I decided to do the Old category, and have a bunch of old Arkham inmates playing Bingo—It looked good, but I just didn’t like something about it. Then I came up with this great idea for the Fail Category:

Category 1.2 Fail
What if a superhero fails to save the day? Build a vig (min 8 x 8, max 16 x 16) and show us a hero trying to avoid a catastrophe, fighting a villain or nature itself … and failing horribly. Dark humor is appreciated. A reasonable(!) overhang is allowed, like a plant, arm, leg, etc.

Fail: Super Global Warming

In hindsight, it may not have been the smartest idea to place my giant crystal house on a melting ice continent…
~Superman

In this event, Superman fails to foresee the problems that can happen when the powerful heat of the sun begins to melt the polar caps; leading to the sinking of his Fortress of Solitude. No, no Superman…shaking your fist at the sun will not raise those heavy crystal walls to the surface.

Darn it! Now all of my stuff is underwater! I hate you sun! And I'm not fond of your friend the moon either!

Above you see the tip tops of the former Fortress of Solitude, which is now almost entirely submerged.

Quack.

Curse You SUN!!!

Great idea! I would have never thought of this. (although I dont think he would hate the sun, that is what gives him his powers--wouldnt this give him super duper powers?)

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Great idea and excellent execution!
Thank you, and thanks to everyone as well! It was a fun build, and while I don't expect to make it to the next round, it was a great contest and a great break from my Batman/Penguin builds on flickr!

What a cool idea. Didn't Superman push the earth further away from the sun once? Anyway, it's too late, his fortress is no more. I love to see all his stuff on the ocean floor. Good luck in the contest.

Superman better take it easy on the sun, that's the whole reason he has powers to begin with. Hilarious MOC.
