My First Mociversary!
Exactly one year ago I joined mocpages!
About this creation
This post contains highlights of the past year of my building. If you are curious about how I got into Legos, here is a link to my story.

I uploaded my first creation, The Ombra Morte , the same day I created my account. It was my second ever pirate ship, though my first was built on viking ship hulls long before. Also it was my first custom hull.

This was my first castle moc on the pages. I haven't made many castles, but I hope to make more this year.

The steamcraft, from my first Steampunk creation, Floating Rocks and Steamcraft . For a while I was really into steampunk, perhaps I will make more sometime again.

The Weeping Willow was my one and only entry for the tree contest. It was through the tree contest that I first met Max Pointner .

Gnome Home was one of my first nature mocs. It was also my first time using that pine tree technique.

Rocky Arch was a first for a few things. It was my first time making snot water, using a light brick, and making lots of rocks.

Soon the Mocolympics came around and I thought I'd give it a try. My entry to the first round, The Wreck of The Francisco Morazan , didn't earn me enough points to get in to the second round, but I was close.

Sometime between the tree contest and the mocolympics, I found Ian Spacek's wonderful vigs and got inspired to build Tracer Bullet's Office .

As I mentioned above, I didn't make it into the Mocolympics, but I did make it into the MIT's. My entry depicted a cubedude form of Stupendous Man dropping a snowball on Suzie's head from a tree. This was my first cubedude moc.

Mirkwood was my first Lord of The Rings moc. Technically, it is from The Hobbit though. I've always liked the tree in this.

The Hermit was my first forced perspective moc. It was based on a picture from the Led Zeppelin IV Album.

When the Mocathalon came, me, Sebeus I, Christopher Baldacci, Paul Romano, and Rinse Jan banded together and formed a team called "A Moctley Crew." We were (and are) quite the motley crew, but we are all great friends and it was awesome working with them. We ended up in 6th place.

One of my best buildings I have ever created. It was made for the 2nd part of my Legend of Sleepy Hollow series that I never finished.

Yet another vig that was inspired by Ian Spacek. 221 B Baker Street was my favorite creation I made from the Mocathalon. It received a perfect score.

Yo Ho, A Pirates Life For Me! was made after I watched the Pirates of The Caribbean movies again. It was based mainly on tortuga. I Like the rafters a lot.

In early June I headed down to Chicago for Brickworld 2012. It was a blast!

Lastly, I'd like to list some awesome people that have influenced me through this year. If you aren't on here, don't feel bad, if I listed every person that had ever influenced me, the list would be way too long.

Elliot Lannon and Evan : my real life friends and Lego fans, thanks for being supportive!

Ian Spacek : The master of 1800's vigs and good friend.

Christopher Baldacci : He builds some of the best LoTR and biblical mocs ever! Also a great friend.

Max Pointner : The creator of the tree contest, my first contest, and a very nice fellow.

Paul Vermeesch : His amazing photography and lighting skills never cease to inspire me. He is also a neat guy.

Paul Romano : The ultimate smacker talker, a very good black fantasy builder, and great friend.

Sebeus I : His creations inspired me to join mocpages. A wonderful ship builder and friend. If you ever need advice on ships, he the man to go to.

Rinse Jan : A really cool guy and friend, he uses a lot of really cool techniques in his builds.

Riccardo Zangelmi : Riccardo always leaves very kind comments, and his whimsical builds are unlike anything I have ever seen.

Ru Corder : One of the first castle builders I met one the pages, his castles are always great!

Mr. Xenomurphy : A great builder who always pay close attention to detail. His superhero mocs are amazing!

Michael Kringe and the lads (and lasses) from The Fellowship of the Brick : Everyone over at the Fellowship is always very kind and supporting. If you are a fan of LoTR, you should definitely check out the group.

Also a big thanks to my favorite builders for inspiring me with your stunning mocs. As of right now (July 7, 2012) I have 43 posts and 43 people call me their favorite builders. Thank you those who call me a favorite.

It has been a great year getting to know you all and improving my skills, and I look forward to many more!
-Ben

Quoting Josh O. Thanks Because No good team has any openings and I really want to win.
Well first off, I believe our team isn't really in it for winning we just want to have fun. And secondly, winning isn't everything.
