8831 Minifigures Series 7 Identification Guide
A guide to identifying the new 8831 Minifigures Series 7 in their packets.
About this creation

Swimming Champion, Aztec Warrior, Bunny Suit Guy, Bride, Ocean King, Bagpiper, Daredevil, Galaxy Patrol, Tennis Ace, Jungle Boy, Hippie, Computer Programmer, Viking Woman, Evil Knight, Rocker Girl and Grandma Visitor.

Introduction:

This mini-review focuses on how to identify 8831 Minifigures Series 7 figures in their packets so you can avoid purchasing doubles.

The parts to feel for are listed next to the name of each minifigure as well as warnings of minifigures with similar parts.

Guide:

Swimming Champion- The Swimming Champion comes with all new cap and medal pieces. As the cap piece is new, I advise you to try and feel the medal. It is fairly solid, so you can feel the 90 degree angle of the piece, and has gaps in its interior.

Aztec Warrior- The warrior’s spear is fairly easy to identify (it is almost the width of the packet). Do not only feel for the shield though- the Viking Women has the exact same piece. The Aztec also comes with a large, bulky headpiece. This can be identified quite easily, but remember to check- the Galaxy Patrol and Ocean King also have large, bulky parts.

Bunny Suit Guy- The “ears” on this figure are attached to a helmet which feels very similar to the standard crash helmet (like on the Daredevil). The figure also holds a carrot with a separate stalk piece, which is quite small and flat.

Bride - The Bride comes with a large dress piece instead of standard legs. The Viking Women also has this piece, so it is best to try and find the Bride’s flowers (which are in a group of four with a large stud-like piece holding them together). If you cannot find this piece, make sure that the packet does not hold any of the Viking Women’s weapons, and you will likely have a Bride figure.

Ocean King- This figure comes with a special fin attachment instead of standard legs, so it is fairly easy to find. The end of the trident is also easy to identify, but I recommend making sure you have the fin parts (feels similar to a 1x2 brick at the top, with a bend in the bottom) when searching for your own Ocean King.

Bagpiper- The new bagpipe piece with this figure is fairly easy to identify- a large hunk with three small parts sticking out one end and another handle sticking out another end. You can also find this figure's hat, which is shaped like the Series 5 Clown's pie, but is wider and more oval shaped. It has a small ball at the top.

Daredevil- The Daredevil comes with a standard crash helmet and visor, which are easy to find. The hair piece is also quite large, but check for a visor or helmet first before choosing this figure.

Galaxy Patrol- The Galaxy Patrol figure is likely the most popular Series 7 figure. It has a large body piece, a helmet similar to the ones used on Series 6’s Intergalactic Girl and a gun, like the ones used in Alien Conquest. Try finding the gun and feeling for some bulky pieces for this figure- you really just have to try and visualise the body piece. (It is not connected to the helmet.)

Tennis Ace - This sportsman comes with hair like the Series 6 Sleepy Head’s, but the easiest way to identify this one is by finding the racquet- it has a very unique texture. The piece is the same as the Series 3 Tennis Girl’s racquet.

Jungle Boy- Jungle Boy comes with a small monkey (like the Series 5 Zookeeper) and a set of two knives. This figure is fairly hard to identify, but try find the monkey (it feels very irregular) and then the knives (which are joined with a piece from the mould).

Hippie- Feel for the four petals like the Bride has and the stalk. The Hippie has a new hair piece, so don’t just base your decision on finding its hair.

Computer Programmer- To find this figure, feel for its cup (similar to a 1x1 round brick with a handle), and a smooth object about the size of a 2 x 2 plate. The laptop has no studs on it.

Viking Women- Like the Bride, this figure has a dress piece instead of normal legs. Once you have found the piece, search for a small sword and round shield (make sure you have found the dress first though- the Aztec has a shield). The figure’s helmet is attached to its hair, but the two spiked pieces are separate in the packet.

Evil Knight- The Evil Knight comes with a sword, oval-shaped shield , helmet and chest armour. Feel for all of these items to find one.

Rocker Girl- The best way to identify a Rocker Girl is to find her guitar, which is the same mould as the one in Series 4. Her headpiece is surprisingly large, but is also new, so don’t only look for it.

Grandma Visitor- The Grandma Visitor is easy to find because she has small legs. Feeling for her hood (the same as Star Wars ones) will help you confirm this minifigure’s identity.

I hope that you find this guide useful and that it helps you complete your set of 16 or helps you to find the individual figures that you want.

Quoting Jared . Very true about the galaxy guy; I have about 7, and totally plan to get more :D. One other thing, I used the same tricks, but also for the Scotsman, it's a lot easier than you think to confuse his bagpipe for something else, so another trick I developed was if you find the hat, which feels like an irregular pie, just feel for the small ball at the top. It sounds weird but it works really well surprisingly because the little ball on the top of his hat is pretty solid.
Thanks for the tip, I have added it to the guide.

You covered it pretty well, I used most of the same feeling tricks. You're right about the Galaxy Patrol being popular- I got 4! I also got 2 Computer Programmers and the Tennis Ace.
