"The known universe is vast and filled with many ancient evils. Its peoples no longer vigilant, these evils have penetrate their hearts and societies. We have no choice but to go forth and bring fiery justice to all those that would harbor evil in their worlds without exception." Excerpt from the 'Book of Law' as read by High Priest Nicodemus of the Galaxium Patronus (Galaxy Patrol).
About this creation
Long ago there was an ancient race known as the Aria who were wholly devoted to fighting evil. So much so that the Aria formed a mighty army to combat evil across their galaxy called the Galaxium Patronus (or now more commonly referred to as the Galaxy Patrol). All Manpower and resources were used to forge the race into a weapon that would travel across the Galaxy in search of evil.
The fighting went of for no one knows how long. The Galaxium Patronus clashed with any who sided with evil or oppose its destruction. Whole systems were pacified (destroyed) in the name of Law. Any planet or system that resists inspection for evil is deemed lost and must be pacified. However, those who comply with the Galaxy Patrol find their planets turned into police states under martial law. People go missing and the only law is that of the Galaxium Patronus. Failure to comply is instant pacification.
It was said that once all evils in the Galaxy were defeated, they moved on out into the darkness of the void and disappeared.
For thousands of years no one had heard from them. The Galaxy Patrol had been gone for so long that they had become more of a fiction rather than history. There was no trace of their civilization, their massive fleets and capital ships. All gone.
One day it all changed. A Galaxy Patrol Capitol ship was spotted out on the rim. By the time the sighting had been reported to the Central Government, three systems had been pacified and two more occupied. From there, dozens of Capital ships began branching out into the surrounding systems. The Galaxy Patrol were back and this time they were not just after evil.
This is the story of the planet Alba Prime and its fateful encounter with the Galaxium Patronus.
A Capitol ship appeared in orbit and it's Commander requested permission from the Governor to inspect the planet for various 'evil's'. The Governor fearing for his people decided to let them land for he knew his planet to be very peaceful. In fact, Abla Prime was renowned for its hospitality and open-mindedness. The Governor felt If the Commander could see this for himself he would surely leave Alba Prime.
Once the Commander arrived, they marched to the Capitol Building to meet with the Governor and his staff. The news crews as well as a considerable crowd were on hand to witness the first appearance of the Galaxy Patrol in centuries.
"Commander, surely you can see this is a peaceful and happy planet."
"Governor, you see what you want. You clearly need our assistance. Go back inside your office and await further orders from myself or the Battle Priest. We have work to do"
"I assure you there's been some mistake. We a tolerant society that embraces..."
"By allowing us to inspect your planet, ours laws are in effect. Your previous laws have clearly failed or we would not be here. Are you going to disagree? If so it would seem you are as much to blame for this sickness to your world as those criminals who infest it!"
"You are mistaken Commander. while there may be one or two 'bad seeds you cannot just institute martial law over a couple criminals..."
"Governor, I will do as I please when it comes to fighting evil. We're done talking."
Lieutenant! Take the Governor to his office and leave guards. I want to be able to talk with him after I make our first sweep of the city."
"Yes sir, Commander!"
"Sergeant! Move your troops out! Let's get to work!"
"Yes sir! All right Nuggets! In groups of 5, street by street. Building by building!"
It was clear that the Governor's plan was a failure. The Galaxy Patrol was not going to run a peaceful inspection. Now it was too late to call out for help or to let others know that this meeting was never going to be peaceful.
The fate of Alba Prime and that of its citizen's was sealed.
A few minutes earlier, a strange pair were also watched as the Galaxium Patronus arrived at the Capitol Building.
"Doctor, what's going on down there?"
"Mmm - We need to leave now. Come on Rose."
"They don't look very nice. I hope they don't hurt anybody. I really liked the people on this planet."
"Rose! Come on. NOW!"
"You're acting like you're scared. Really?"
"Scared? No Rose, not scared, I just want to get out of here sooner rather than later."
"Why? What happens later Doctor? Doctor?"
Stay Tuned for Part 2 - "Submission"
The Commander is the first and last word of law on the battlefield for the troops who serve under him. The orders are to be obeyed and executed without hesitation. A commander is responsible for ensuring the mission is a success at any cost even if it means sacrificing every man on the field. If for whatever reason if the Commander is unable to fulfill his duties or orders, the Lieutenant becomes charged with the current missions success.
The Battle Priest is responsible for rallying the men by reading scriptures or battle chants and prayers from the Book of Law. These scriptures recount such tales as past glorious battles, or the rich rewards in the afterlife for victory through life in service of the Holy Law. The priest will also preach passages that cover eternal pain and suffering for evil doers as well as for failure or cowardice. The Battle Preist is also accompanied by an Acolyte and a Juggernaut.
A Juggernaut is a fallen Battle Priest, one who has somehow failed in his duties and is now disgraced. The only purpose of the Juggernaut is to protect the Battle Priest. A Juggernauts only way to redemption is to be encased in suit of armor that enhances his strength and extends the life but at a cost of the fallen humanity. They then must serve a currently active Battle Priest for 100 campaigns. At the completion the fallen is allowed to die with honor. Juggernauts will die in defense of their Battle Priest.
The Field Marshall's are the physical embodiment of hand of Law within the Galaxium Patronus. In addition to fighting evil, their superior coercion skills allow them to easily gather information from both civilians and prisoners. They are also known for inspiring loyalty among the troopers. Evil will find your weakest link and exploit it. There are no cowards in the Galaxium Patronus.
The Troopers live and die for combat. Any day is a good day to die so long as you take as many of the enemy with you as possible. A trooper who performs well will advance in ranks and one lead their own unit or regiment. The ultimate aspiration for any trooper is to remembered in song or tales told by the Battle Priests. Those very few who go above and beyond, surviving multiple campaigns and not knowing failure (or death) may one day be added to the mighty Book of Law like the heroes before them.
