A MGS vig of Snake sneaking around in a cardboard box.
About this creation
This is my first vignette ever, depicting the character Solid Snake, from the Metal Gear Solid series, sneaking in a cardboard box past a distracted soldier.
I tried to cram as much detail into this vignette as possible, and I'm happy with the results. I also decided to add a concept of my own to the vignette. All of the objects that are in motion in the scene are jutting outside of the borders of the vignette. That includes Snake, the Genome Soldier, and the Guncam (pivoting from side to side). I hope that doesn't violate some unwritten vignette law.
This vignette takes place in a random place in a random occurrence (you can use the cardboard boxes for almost all of the game), and doesn't reflect any part of the storyline. I just wanted to make something that was totally iconic for Metal Gear Solid.
So, here are some of the details:
Snake's box has a slit, and through it you can see his eyes. The slit is the grip holes that all cardboard boxes have, but I only made one because I ran out of smooth tan tiles. Snake has the "Snowfield" box on in this vignette.
There is a ration hidden in the vent. This is yet another staple of the Metal Gear Solid series. Villains seem to have some fixation with leaving ammo and rations in vents. Plus, the ration is floating above the ground; Just like in the games!
The piping and the lighting was a random last-minute addition that I made so I could get even more detail in.
The console is a random detail in another room.
The Guncam (another piece of MGS fandom), an automated machine gun attached to a wall camera, is also in another room.
The Genome Soldier is an Arctic Warfare Troop. While AWT's are only found outside (except for the warehouse in the beginning of the game), I thought they were the most recognizable enemies from the first. I originally used the white ninja mask and a white head for the soldier's head, but the design of the gray head was far too perfect. The soldier, having been distracted by something, has yet another well-known MGS element: The red Exclamation Point. This means, in the game, that the soldier has spotted something.
The AWT's gun is a custom-made FAMAS assault rifle, a bullpup-style rifle. This is the gun they use in the game.

Just your typical random control console. It is just an added detail. It's supposed to be in another room.

The famous Exclamation Point.

My custom-made FAMAS assault rifle. Since the gun is a bullpup-style rifle, the handle is in front, while the magazine is behind it. This allows for a longer time for the bullet to be moving through the barrel.

The camera also smells rations.
The cameras, in the game, also display exclamation points.

Even though I have never played any of the "Metal Gear" games I love this creation! This "vignette" is one of(If not "the") first "studless" creations I had ever seen, when I first found out about the online LEGO(R) community, and because of that this creation holds a special place in my heart! The minifig action and detailing are really nice! Oops...gotta' go, I smell rations! |

Ha ha ha, the exclamation point makes that vig. and the floating ration. I'm a huge fan of the series and you don't come close to disapointment. Very nice. |

Excellent work, especially on the lights and pipes...how they hang in the air. (Getting deja-vu yet...like you've heard this before somewhere)? ;-) |

Incredible! The little cardboard box is my favorite feature in the games! In fact, I have a cardboard box perfectly like his. It's fun to walk around in... ya know.... I also luve the widely-known exclamation point-- quite funny. Anyway, great little vignette. |
