This is my response to Tim C's challenge to build a micro-scale space city. From the teaser craft Tim previewed last week, I'm expecting his project to be a little more epic than mine. This is more a slice of a city rather than the full thing. I tried to focus on building as many types of blocks as possible, each with a defined use, specific to life on Mars. With a bit of tweaking this could easily become a modular component for a much larger build.

Cool! Very original. You have put some thought into this, great details and nice text parts too :-)
I really wanted to name all the parts of the city. |

YES! This is a sweet piece of work. Unfortunately, mine is still going to take a while, and, although mine is a little different, my monorail won't seem like such an original idea now;) Some serious NPU going on here, and I love how you labeled the different parts of the city. You haven't found a better use for that pod yet. That looks fantastic. I have a similar building in mine, but I wish I could have added a little more of the glass look that you achieved there. I like the splashes of red, really adds some appeal and gives it that martian look. Well done, David. This is giving me some added motivation to complete mine.
The wait will be worth it - I have this sneaky feeling yours is going to be at a different scale and level of detail to mine. I'm not surprised about the monorail, they are a space city staple. More than likely you and I are pulling from the same cultural references. Thanks for the comments, and again can't wait to see what I suspect is going to be your masterpiece so far.

really well done David! i'm impressed - you're always searching for new themes for yourself...and they turn out well!
I get bored if I do the same build over and over. I'm wanting to try something more sculptural soon. |

Absolutely fantastic David. Excellent part usage from you as usual. Love the whole thing, but my favourite parts are the monorail, the climate windmill thingy and the command tower. Blue skies on mars maybe, a la Total Recall?
Certainly a splash of Total Recall in here. |

You continually impress. A lot of thought out buildings and details to fit the needs of the ever increasing Martian colony. I like that you have so many different parts used to fit each building theme so well. |
