Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II 'Warthog'
A small-scale rendering of the iconic ground attack aircraft.
About this creation

This is my first project on MOCpages and I think one of the coolest models I have made. The A-10 is my favorite military aircraft and I saw it as great inspiration for a Lego model. It is made from 32 pieces and is 141 times smaller than the real thing.

It uses several design techniques including SNOT for the tail and using a minifigure hand as the seven-barrel 30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling-type cannon.

I think the Lego rocket engine pieces quite closely resemble the two General Electric TF34-GE-100A turbofans and that the design of the cockpit captures its unique shape.

I also built one with classic nose warpaint. This model is also to scale with the nanofigure trophy element.

Every day this model patrols the skies over my Lego display shelf and provides ground support to the star wars clone troopers that never seem to be able to advance across the battlefield...

**I have made this model from looking at a picture of the real thing. Please provide me with credit if you are going to use the design or photographs.**

Gotta be one of my favorite planes, after the Tomcat, of course. Top Gun, Mav and all that, obviously. Anyway, a plane designed around a gun is a clear winner.

Quoting Sergei illich The colors are bland but the design is awesome, 11/10. You should make a PAK-FA next, and for the desert thing you're planning, would you perhaps be getting inspiration from ArmA2:OA? Because I was planning on making a Takistan diorama, with an F-35 and a Insurgent supply convoy as soon as I get LDD.
Uh, they're its production colors, they're made like this for camouflage while looking up in the air...

Quoting El Barto ! Nice! But it needs something to shoot at!
Thanks! It's part of a MOC that I'm working on where it is swooping in over the desert and shooting at cluster of buildings. It'll have bullet impacts in the sand and explosions from the huts.

A good, accurate micro-scale model of the A-10. I particularly like the version with the shark's teeth nose art.

I just came back from Brickfiesta in Houston and everyone was asking me if they could take a picture of this moc. They were also asking me if I had bought it and they were amazed when I told them I had made it. I talked to a few people who were in the air force who were there and they said it looked awesome!
