Scania R730 ''The Dragon'' full combo with Ekeri reefer.
About this creation
My 1:16 scaled Scania combination is finally ready. It is based on Scandinavian showtrucks that run total lenghts of a bit more than 25 meters, often with many custom elements and airbrushes.
This truck is 100% Lego. Some bricks where chromed (real metal plating) in cooperation with Bricks4all in The Netherlands. The stickers I made myself and are based on Fantasy dragon art. I Photoshopped them in order to fit the Lego colors. A lot of hours went into this job, but it lifted this model into a fresh direction with it, as I had never done something like that on a Lego build before.
Simulating airbrush work has always been a wish for me, and this seems the good technique. A buddy of mine printed the foils, and pre-cutted them. My lovely wife applied them, with painstaking patience, as I did not dare to do it ;-)
This model will be on display at the Lowlug display at Lego Fanwelt in Cologne, Germany, in a 12 meter truck display from Dennis Bosman and me. Come and meet us there!
This is basically the 2nd version of this truck. First of all I added 4 studs on the length. I also added the cooling unit, and modified the skirts to make them more real. I lowered the top lights, and changed the warning lights into another type. The tribal flames I removed as I renewed all stickers on the combo for better color synchronisation.
Wow, that's awesome, it looks a lot more like a die cast scale model than a LEGO model! I had to look very close to see the LEGO details. Great styling and parts usage, that chrome is so beautiful! Great job! :-))
Wow, now it looks even more epic! The trailer-on-dolly is a great addition, and as superbly detailed as the truck itself. Absolutely very well done, i agree it looks like an actual scale model kit - or better :-)
Excellent work, I am impressed! The colours have a minimal difference despite your work, but only on closer inspection. It may be the paper-thing it is printed on, but if you intend to display this somewhere, I suggest making the red a bit more vivid.
I am not sure whether this inspires me or makes me want to quit building altogether. Your techniques even without decals and chrome are exceptional. With the chrome and decals your building is simply over the top! Simply awesome - period.
