For those of you who don't already know, which is most of you, I am currently working on an accurate Black Pearl. I am basing it on a blueprint I found online and am using a scale of 2mm=1 stud to make sure the dimensions are a close as possible to that of the real ship. It is going to be split into 3 sections that come apart for access to the interior, which will be fully decorated. The purpose of me posting these WIPs is to get constructive crititcism and/or comments about what looks good. This way I get the opinions of not only myself, but other builders as well.

you have a smart mentality, and you have quite a piece coming here, although it dates back to june, maybe I have a chance finishing my space pirate ship before yours, lol, in any case, your technique looks so hot, I d be a fool not to study it, as it looks just brilliant, and I ll need that for my first pirate space ship, do you know albator? it s going to look like that! can t wait to see this evolve, good luck ben! and mc! |

Think about some technic framework to add strength. ~Dave
Thats a good idea. I'll have to try that. |

"Busting a sebeus" XD
I see you're working in sections, very good, that will save you from problematic accessibility later.
One complain, and it's one I have on my own ship too, is that the bottom is rather flat, it's kind of too late for my version to do anything about it, I did design this alternate cross section though:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5477592
but overall it will require a clever construction to get a full hull that way.
Either way, keep it up. Oh and cool to see the old Team in the background :P

I'm worried about the stability of the tooth hinged plate sides. I wonder what will happen when you attempt to deck it off? Think about some technic framework to add strength. ~Dave |

how much of this technic is Sebeus's doing?
i know its alot,
its annoying you cant make anything at a pirateship, without he already have done it, in small or bigger understanding,
that aside, i like its in sections, then its easier to put together, (just remember to stiff it off when you put all the sections together, so that it dosent brake in 5 sections) nice WIP, im going into the costum hull buisness aswell very soon, to create a huge battleship, that ahs to be done by september.....wish me luck. and i wish you luck at the pearls behalf, |

She's looking terrific; smart move making it modular, as this baby is going to be a beast of a ship. Keep up the good work, and be sure to keep my sig-fig away from the WIP: he knows precious little about ships and might give you bad advice :P
Thanks for the comment and advice! |

Bustin' a Sebeus on us, huh? Well, good for you! About time someone challenged that dude in the pirate ship business. But joking aside, I have a suggestion for your SNOT-problem: maybe pieces like this http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=11&itemID=10490 or this http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=11&itemID=8633 would work out better. As for the rest of it, she's looking terrific; smart move making it modular, as this baby is going to be a beast of a ship. Keep up the good work, and be sure to keep my sig-fig away from the WIP: he knows precious little about ships and might give you bad advice :P |
