About this creation
Hey there everyone, and welcome to my little contribution to our collaborative build for BrickWorld 2012. This year, VirtuaLUG decided to do "Alice in Wonderland" as our theme. While this castle isn't meant to mirror the one from the movie exactly, it was, like all the builds in our collaborative, heavily inspired by it.
I'll be doing a full recap of Brickworld and the entire group layout so I won't waste a lot of time describing the whole thing here. For this post, I'm going to step back and let the pics do the talking (shocking, I know). Don't worry, your 'Ol Phippy isn't slipping in his old age, just that there's going to be SO much talking in the next BW post...
Anyway, on with the show!
I present to you "Marmoreal, the White Queen's Castle." Enjoy the pics and I'll see you at the end of the post.

Fourth Wall Commentary: Well there ya go kids. There's been a lot of "Why doesn't Chris post?" for a while now and well... this is why. I originally started this build last October, give or take. Then, a few short months later in February... I was standing there looking at it in my garage and didn't like it one little bit. So, I tore the entire thing down and started from square(brick)one. What you see here represents February till early June in terms of build time. I had a great time working on this and can't wait to get started on next year's collaborative (as soon as VirtuaLUG decides what we're doing)!
Before I go, I'd like to thank Dennis Price, Dave Xandeger and most of all Dr. Lee Jones. Without their help this castle wouldn't have been able to be completed. Dave and Dennis provided a LOT of white tiles and Lee... well Lee provided maybe a good 1/2 of the specialty parts for the build (including the white tree parts and pink flowers just to name a couple of the contributions from him). Thank you SO much!
In the mean time, I'll see you really soon (in the next couple of days or so) for the BrickWorld 2012 recap!
Till next time true believers!
~Chris.

I must have seen the cartoon when very yougn, as the pic in front of the gate feels deja-vu, I like this castle for many reasons, a white castle is quite rare and does look good, as opposed to the norm, there are no knights, horses, it s not even really medieval, lots of green spaces, the white trees makes the sum eerie, bravo! |

Please, people, take note: this guy can build!!! I know, right? Well, it's true. This massive thing (and Tyler's Red Castle) made my chessboard look like someone spilled some bricks between the two and forgot to clean them up! =) AWESOME job on this, Chris, absolutely top notch!~H |

It must have really used up your white parts! Just how many parts did you use on this one MOC? Not a clue... If I had to hazard a guess I'd say more than 7,000 but probably less than 10,000. But that's just an uneducated guess... and no, I didn't mispeak there. TOTALLY UNeducated. haha Thanks! ~ Chris. |

"My little contribution for the BW collaboration" What did you say?? Little!!! Yikes if this is a just a little part of the collaboration that I am really interested in seeing a large contribution. Nice work man, it is good to see that you are uesing some of the white pieces that you got for the minis tirith MOC last year. I really liked how you made the tower round, I have seen it done before but the scale that you made it was pretty cool. Keep up the building, I really hope to get to the Brick World convention someday to see all of you guys works of art. |

This castle is really cool =D I especially like the red flowers and the white tree leaves with pink flowers on them. This gives an amazing effect, but it doesn't work that well with the castle, which is plain white. With some red/pink mosaics or details this could look much more cooler. =)
But maybe, that's just me. ;) (I've never built a castle in such a scale, so I don't have any experience with it.)
Thanks for your input and you're probably right about adding in colors. But since this castle was inspired by the movie version, which is juuust about all white with some highlight colors, this particular castle had to stick with the basic white scheme... but I'll take your advice for other projects in the future! Thanks! And thanks to everyone else for the awesome comments! ~ Chris. |

Dear Lord... Chris this is a masterpiece. The fact you scrapped a false start suggests it, the end product punctuates it. Stunning. The amount of twists and turns in the towers, roofs and corridors tells of high skill and rare patience and endeavor. I was wondering when you were going to post next, and wow was this worth the wait. The trees are glorious, and I just loved that shot of the princess through the arch window. White gold! |
