The Vila-Disparador VL-1200 (Reporting Name: “Firestorm”) is a supersonic, all-weather fighter-bomber aircraft developed in the Lego Empire. This variable-sweep wing, single engine single seater fighter was developed as a complement to the attack bomber “Gerifalte”.

Initially, the aircraft should have been a high altitude reconnaissance and nuclear bomber. However, the aircraft had so much potential that was quickly modified for the fighter bomber role, equipped with hard points under the wings and 30mm cannons in the fuselage and tail.

Despite being designated by the Imperial Air Force as a "heavy" fighter, the “Firestorm” was surprisingly agile for such a large aircraft, thanks to his powerful V-700A3 turbojet engine, capable of reaching Mach 3 at high altitude.

Given its original design as a supersonic recce and nuclear heavy attack aircraft, the Firestorm’s main armament was initially carried in an internal bomb bay, capable of carrying two conventional 2000kg bombs, two termo-nuclear bombs, or various free-fall nuclear weapons.

The Firestorm defensive armament consisted of a tail turret above the engine, containing one 30mm ENA-75 cannon. The turret was directed by a small “Hindra” gun-laying radar to compensate for the pilot’s lack of rear visibility.

Two forward firing 30mm cannons were also installed.
Since it is so agile and able to reach high altitudes in seconds, it was also adapted for the function of interceptor. A powerful AESA radar and long range air-to-air missiles were installed for the role.

A two-seat Wild Weasel version was later developed for the specialized Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) role against surface-to-air missile sites.
The aircraft is used for ground attack missions, tactical bombing, anti-ship, Wild Weasel and interceptor.
The first models were painted white to reflect nuclear explosions.

In many ways, it's similar to the F-105 Thunderchief, Sukhoi Su-24, General Dynamics F-111 and the Panavia Tornado.

Quoting Josh Hoffman Awesome work! I think you could fix the engine exghaust and maybe remove the tail gun. Other than that it look's amazing I see alot of F-105 Thunder Chief in there
No, I love tail guns, they are always helpful. XD

9/10, because this model is realistic and functional, but the tire at the back for the engine bugs me. I think there may be better solutions, but on whole I love this MOC!

This looks great! I think that for the Experimental Aircraft competition, you will be awarded (from me), 10/10. Simple as that. This plane is quite realistic, the details are nice, and the build/ photography is well carried out.

Awesome! The angle of those wings give it a very fast and agressie look :-) Great details and arsenal too!

True, they are Mach 1+; I suppose I was thinking more of the previous generation of bombers. Direct engagment of attacking fighters with the cannon would still be unlikely, though. Instead, the GSh-23 guns would likely deploy chaff and flare rounds in an effort to deflect missiles launched from a distance. Modern missile seakers, unfortunately, make this a rather useless tactic now. When you can shoot down a target from a safer angle and further away, why risk getting within gun range behind it? Still, it is an interesting feature on a well built and thought out MOC!

Quoting Marty Fields I like your design-very Tornado-like. It certainly should get a lot of lift with that huge wing area! Interesting feature, your 30mm rear-firing cannon. There are, though, some problems inherent with aft-firing weapons and they are now only seen on slow, aging Russian bombers rather than fast manoeuvring fighters (see my Firefox page for more detail on that). Great build!
Well, the Tu-22 Blinder and the Tu-22M Backfire, both have 23mm rear-firing guns. They are both high speed bombers. But thanks! ^^

Quoting Chris Melby I love the build, love the armaments, and think it is one of the best around! I will whine a tad about the tire on the rear though, I think it drags the build down a bit. Overall, 5/5 for nailing it!
I needed a giant single engine for this fighter, so I used the tire to show the size of the engine, But thanks!
