Hey everyone! Here's my entry to the 2012 Bio - Cup entry, for a "gritty" revamp. Enjoy!
About this creation
Hey everyone! I decided to enter the 2012 Bio-Cup, even though I'm vacationing to the east coast in a week. This will probably be the only entry I can make for this contest, so I just wanted to enter. I think I can make it to the next round, if it doesn't take too long to judge. Anyways, I have decided to make Kalmah, a Barraki from back in the day. I had plenty of metru red and black pieces, so I decided to make him.
(Before you say it, I know he is supposed to have a squid launcher, but those things were an absolute horror for me when I was eight, so I don't want to live through that again. That, and they don't really launch very well.... Anyways, chains are much more... menacing....)
You can find his bio here: http://bionicle.wikia.com/wiki/Kalmah
Well, on to the moc!
Here's the 360 degree view.

The Front.

The right.

The back.

The left.

The head.

The front torso. You may not be able to see it, but he has a heartlight.

Right Arm. It's mirrored to the left side.

The back. It's pretty simple, which is disappointing. I think it looks okay, though. (The judges, on the other hand, may think differently.)

Back of the legs. (Darned blurry picture)

Front of the legs.

Lower legs.

I don't know why I did this. Maybe he's fighting, or dodging, or Scaring an orca away... I don't know...

A lone matoran. What is he doing here, just staring blankly into space?

Wait, he see's something!

Why is he running? Oh wait, I think he's an example. (Poor fellow.)

He's caught. That awful chain has captured him!

Oh gosh, Kalmah's here...

What's he doing?

He's picked him up. Kalmah, what are you going to do with my poor little matoran?

Kalmah: Goodbye.
Wait, seriously, where are you taking him?
Kalmah: You'll never know...
Oh Dear...
Well, There's my entry. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Its good but I find it hardly any different from the original. 6/10
Well, that's the thing. I've never really done a revamp of a canon character before. The main thing I tried to do was keep the look of the original set, while adding a more complex build. I wasn't actually sure what "gritty" meant though... I just took a shot in the dark. |

Pretty good MOC. The build is good, but yeah, you're right about the back. Also, legs could be better, they're too simple and skinny. Oh well, 7/10 |

I like how you remade the torso, and the use of the Dume-masks is great to make him look more bulky! The legs are a bit thin, but okay. Good luck in the contest!
Thank you for your comment. About the legs, the actual set had an ignika torso, giving him broad shoulders, but the legs (rakshi legs) were pretty thin. I tried to keep that from the original. |

I agree with you on the squid launchers:( |
