Gardener
About this creation
Come visit! This sculpture and 26 others are touring the U.S. now through 2014. Over 25 larger-than-life sculptures created with nearly half a million LEGO pieces! Read more and come visit!

This life-size gardener was built with 37,497 LEGO pieces and is over 6 feet tall and took 300 hours to design and build together with my team of assistants.

The sculpture was installed in April 2012 at Reiman Gardens in Iowa as part of my traveling exhibition, Nature Connects. In October 2012 it will travel to it's next location, so stay tuned for updates!

Building it

The sculpture took over 300 hours to design and build by my team and I. Each piece is glued one-by-one and a steel armature helps keep the sculpture secured to the ground.

The sculpture was assembled in my New York City art studio, then custom-crated in museum-quality exhibition crates for my new show, Nature Connects, which is currently touring the United States.

Because it's built in life size, it looks so real, that I'm just waiting for it to stand up, telling you to stop teasing him. Poor gardener...

The buttons on his shirt are a great touch. I would recommend putting this right in front of a friend's door to scare them, but the risk of shattering would be too great. ;)

Nice! In the one photo it looks like you're about to swing your broom into Mr. Gardener's face though...

I wish I could see these in Person. Is LIC Arts Center having another week-end exhibit this year? Oh an Idea to make MOCpages even better! Have three choices: Delete-Edit-(and the new one)UPDATE. If a person edits their work no one knows about it, but it may be edited for better pictures or grammar, in UPDATE a person adds pictures to his/her already existing stuff and all the people who follow him/her will now be alerted to the UPDATES! Did you see my Tribute To HEATHER BRAATEN, yet?

Haha I agree with David Pagano! Does he have any eyes? I don't see any. If not, was there any particular reason why you did not include them? -LB Senior

I'm really enjoying the humorous "coda" photos you're selecting for all of these entries.
