Taris Underbelly
About this creation

It's been too long since I've done any half-decent Star Wars MOCs, so I decided to do Taris. Thanks to various time draining activities this took almost a month to build, although I completed over two thirds of it in two days. Anyway, onto the MOC!

The two lower levels.

Law enforcement officials march to a reported disturbance. Whoever guesses where the circular chrome bricks used over the trans-red are from gets a hearty virtual back-slapping.

A band of thugs confront the officers. Those new 3L bars are really excellent pieces.

A fringer fires at some vermin. Wussy sewers have rats, Taris has mutant giant beetles.

An old veteran soldier is ambushed by a crafty assassin. Perhaps you can notice the thermal detonator the veteran is holding, though it's displayed better in other photos. I've never seen the technique used before, so either I'm brilliant or the design sucks...

The toxic river. Ah, brings me back to the MocOlympics...

An airspeeder lands for refueling.

The refueling module.

One last photo.

Thanks for stopping by, hopefully you enjoyed your stay!

Very nice, each level has a very distinctive style and a good mini-storyline. Clever way to portray multiple features of Taris in a single MOC; well-done throughout. Great one, Luke.

Quoting Brick Munky I don't know much about KOTOR, but this is epic! I'll start off with the chrome dish. You got those from Bricklink I bet :D. Secondly, I'm not a big fan of the blue space marines. I don't really like mixing space sets, but it's not too big a deal. Third, what's the rest of the MOC? I see one side of it, but the other half under the landing platform doesn't seem to have much to it. Fourth (I'll stop counting), the thermal detonator is very clever! You used a mic for that? And the greebles in general are really nicely done. What's that the alien assassin has in his hand? It looks like a thermal det but you were talking about the veteran when you mentioned it. That subtle bubble in the pool of acid is also a thing of much beauty. And I'm glad that you've made a lot of this in dark gray, yet kept the light gray up above. Bravo! I hope you won't be taking that apart anytime soon. I still see a future of what it could be for the other half of the MOC.
Thanks for both praise and advice! This side is actually all there is, I needed a fair bit of room for supports and such. The alien is holding a short vibrosword, that hilt does kind of look like a grenade from that angle, good spotting. Alas, this was deconstructed last year, but I might do a version 2 someday...

Quoting Ben Bryddia This is well done. Each layer has a distinctive style, and the building is very clean. I'm guessing that the crome piece is the Ring from the new Lord of the Rings sets. My only objection is that the different layers could remind me a little more of Taris, it's distinctive shapes, inhabitants, and textures. Overall, good build. -Ben
Thanks! I agree that this could look more like Taris, I actually started it intending to build Nar Shaddaa so it's not overly accurate to the game. As for the chrome pieces, they're from the LEGO pen sets.

An excellent and smooth build, not a stud in sight. Fantastic details throughout. I like the thermal detonator.

Quoting Daniel Brilliant I love that game. The green goop is excellent and I like your greeble work.
Thanks, it's probably my all time favourite video game, so building this was very fun.

Quoting Chris Melby Luke, hats off on this build, huge scale, although I'm not familiar with Taris, is it a clone war thing? Awesome!
It's a planet in the game Knights of the Old Republic. Thanks!
