About this creation
Mythbusters anyone?
A fun idea i had one day - i know it's supposed to be a SUV but i decided to make my own version and just build it as heavily inspired by the real SUV.
I have recently rebuilt the rear end of the van. Near the bottom of the page a few photos of the new rear has been added.
A few comments revolves around the minigun and the front end, so i need to make a disclaimer here.
The 'rooftop ender'-stone in the middle of the front end is an idea i have seen elsewhere on MOCpages, the rest of the grille and front came to be through my own fiddling about though.
Similarly, the front end of the minigun is from outside inspiration - i just compacted the design a bit to fit it inside the van. The stand and the turn plate are my own 'inventions'.

Rear view, top hatch closed.

Side view, top hatch closed. With the minigun visible through the side windows.

Top view, top hatch closed

Top hatch open.

How the minigun unfolds.

The design for the minigun is close to one i saw posted elsewhere on MOCpages, with a few of my own changes added.
Sideways movement of the minigun.

The build was too small to make the top hatch turn with the minigun as it does on the real ones but... Well, close enough!

You can fire at targets behind you too, provided you unfold the minigun and turn it first.

As per request, here are a couple of photos of the mount mechanism.
A blurry close-up of the platform and weapon.

And a close-up of the parts used.

A new set of photos, with the new rear.

I'm still not entirely pleased but it looks a lot better than what it started out with!

And finally a repeat of the intro-photo. Don't ask who the guy at the trigger is, he won't reveal his identity!

would nt I love to be able to buy the black jeep now, I like this van a lot! I lately did a metal legion stealth van, and have a similar design, but, I also added rockets [2] to the turret, NOTHING shows, and the roof is glass paneled, [you can see it in my police-fire station post], I really dig this genre, your van is also cool as it s dropped close to the ground, it looks sport! the profile is racy, and the back pillars give a great shape! Hehe yeah i ended up with three sets of that black 4wd to build the entire fleet :-D Thanks for your comment, i am glad you can see the sporty look i was going for. I have to admit i was still not entirely pleased with the rear pillars at the time of the latest update of this post. The version in the USSS fleet posts have standard LEGO rear pillars, but i think they fit the build more :-) |

5/5! This is exactly what im looking for daily dirvin to work! XD When will it be aviable at the local car-dealer? :D
Thanks! Uhmm i think it kinda already is, if you live near Alameda USA that is :-D If you want the armored version you need to have the armor installed elsewhere though. |

I have commented on this before, but for the purpose of the group I will do so again. I really think this is great, The 'playable' feature of the mini-gun folding out is what makes this, the front grille detailing is good, but I feel the wheels look a bit dwarfed compared to the size of the vehicle.
Thanks :-) I think the minigun stand turned out really well too - as did the fitting of it inside the rear of the van. It bugs me a bit though that the open lid (doubling as side armor) doesn't move with the gun like on the real ones. But that's a minor detail. I think the wheel-problem is a standard one with this type of wheels though - too big for cars and too small for vans/trucks. On another note, the miserable rear end has been changed again and now looks almost normal. I might have a surprise post coming up soon with a little set of vehicles of similar theme including the updated version of this one! |

Cool! The popup gun is so well done as so is the front! I feel the back needs some more work to complete instead of just leaving in square in my opinion! But very nice job anyway!
Thanks :-) Yeah that rear has been staring at me right from the beginning and i actually rebuilt it the day after posting the close ups of the gun. Maybe i should upload a few shots of the remake? The new rear still doesn't look right to me but it IS better than the one in the current photos! |
