My first MOCiversary
Can’t believe it has been a year. Time does fly when you’re having fun. By the way, the pic is of my birthday present (April 24).
About this creation
It all started when I discovered MOCpages randomly on a web surfing spree. Because I still had most of my LEGOs kept when I did, I thought, «hey, let’s use the cool technology we have today to make all the things we wanted when we were kids», and so, using an LCD and some photo editing software, I posted «Blue Mage Village», something that had been built for ages and was finally going to able to be shared.

After some entries in a similar fashion, the turning point was when I decided I was going to build a huge medieval city – my true purpose in the LEGO field. It was initially rather humble in size.

02

Meanwhile, me and some friends, along with my sister, assembled the set of a martial arts tournament (using some non-LEGO parts too, purists hate it :D ), and created a story of it.

I realized that after so much time not caring for LEGO, my buildings skills are totally out of shape. I’ve learned a lot meeting amazing people here and knowing their work, and even so I’m a long way from excellence. I don’t practice often, I guess.

My most famous and LIKEd MOC is «Medieval Cathedral». I imagine its success is mostly due to the wonderful video editing by Enabling Motion. That, because nowadays I look at it and think «hmm, I’m going to have to tear it apart and start over». Anyway, the video has over 13.000 views on Youtube, that puts a smile on me.

As for the future, I’d like to have the city ready and start working on some stories to take place in it, along with other «places» I keep built for when that time comes (desert village Persian style, eastern village Ninja style, icy mountains village Viking style, and Tropical Island village Islanders style).

When I was a kid I used to make these short RPG style adventures for my sister and a friend of ours. I planned short stories where their avatars participated in battles while invading castles, then we rolled the dice to see if the attacks were successful. When they leveled up I’d give them new weapons and armor for them to equip their avatars, and then new warriors joined the party and they visited other locations... Nice times.

Today, the closest I can get to that feeling is when I’m working on the LEGO medieval city. Planning, drawing, building. Giving up and starting over. Learning and applying. It’s fun… but more expensive than it should be.
