30 year old TFOL LEGO recovered.
Delays delays delays ... But a very good one of its kind. :)
About this creation
So we had some delays on our Starcraft 2 battlefield build. Fortunately for once one delay of the good kind.
I recently rediscovered my 30 year old TFOL LEGO.
That made me freak out like a little kid.
Unfortunately when i lifted the box, it fell apart. Literally the buttom turned into dust.

I knew then that all stickers and decals were ruined. A flood had been in town a year ago. But i didnt think that the water had reached into that cellar.
I also thought that all the instructions were in that box, so i was close to crying. ( Again literally ). :p

To my luck i found the instructions in a totally diffrent place. I have at some point divided the instructions and LEGO, so there is still a lot missing. Both instructions and LEGO.

I sat with the kids all weekend ( and several more days) building all the sets we could.

A brick is missing here and there. I didnt want to cheat and take LEGO from our "new" collection.

Enough talk. Here is all the sets we were able to put together:

This is "the left over" LEGO, and a lot of instructions also that we didnt find the pieces for. When i find the rest of my LEGO and instructions. That will be builded also.

I know this is not custom. But it made me all nostalgic, so i thought i would share it with you all. Tell all you TFOLs out there to put your manuals away. Since i havent touched that LEGO for 28 years, having had my dark age, im really surprised that its in that good condition.

Take good care of your LEGO. One year ago i would have laughed if some oracle told me i would be playing with LEGO again. And look at me now.

Anyway hope you enjoyed this little trip down memorylane. :)

So much collectivity :D You have a goof bit of the iconic sets like the yellow castle, classic space, well pretty much all of it. :P I wasn't born yet when those awesome sets were out, but I'll be sure to keep mine safe.

Quoting Gale Winthrope A fine trip down memory lane! I do not however take great care with my instruction manuals. I care very little for them. Lego to me, is meant to be creative! I need no instructions after the first building of a set when it is bought. The pieces become lost to the ever growing mob of creative assembling and disassembling pieces.
Yeah lovely aint it. :)... I must say regarding the manuals and i myself having had a dark age lasting some 15-20 years, when i found the manuals i was more than happy of two reasons. Being able to build everything again and the other being that, because LEGO is a hobby for me, the manuals has its own place with our collection. That said, i havent byed a set for myself since i got back into LEGO. Im only doing MOC´s, so everything i purchase for myself is thru Bricklink or the LEGO stores PAB walls. My sons however still likes the sets. Short version, since i hadnt touched LEGO for 20 years, the manuals were a treat for me. :)

Quoting Kayla Rhodes Awesome! I'm only 17 so I wasn't around when all of those sets came out. I have been collecting LEGO since I was four years old. I keep my instructions in a plastic box so they can't be damaged easily. I have all of my instructions though some of the older ones aren't in the best shape. My younger brother didn't take that good of care of his instructions so when he gave his LEGO to me, I was hard pressed to find them all. I printed the missing ones off of LEGO.com. On their customer service website, they have most of the instructions from all of the sets they have ever made so I bet you could find some of your missing instructions on there. If not, I recommend trying peeron.com or brickset.com. All you need is the set's name or set number. If you don't have either of those, you can search by theme and then look through all of the sets and find yours.
Thanks a lot on the advices ... My biggest problem is that i cant remember which sets i havent assmebled yet .... Im glad you care for your manuals .... You will so appreciate it lateron in your life. :)

Quoting General Grayfox5 That's a lot of old legos. My dad Had just about i think every set you took pictures of. The motorcycle shop, I know my dad had it. I build a few times. *Sigh* So many good memories. Any way, how long did it take you to build all of those?
We started Thursday. Using between 3-6 hours a day i guess. But we had to sort it all first. There were a lot of dust and dirt from the flood. So that part took a looot of hours. Yeah, all those memories ... This was truly so much fun. And our collection of LEGO just growed a looot ... Thanks for sharing your memorylane stories also. :)
Quoting David Alexander Smith Sweet nostalgia, this brought back so many memories. I'm collecting the bulk of my childhood Lego from my Mum's house in a month or so; and I can only hope it is in as good a condition as yours.
I got my fingers crossed for you mate. I cant describe with words how much fun this was. And the kids are having the time of their life right now playing with all the builds. Truly amasing. Looking forward to se your collection, and to hear how it felt for you going down memorylane. Thanks for commenting. :)
