Built late 2010-early 2011.
About this creation
The LAAT/HGS (Low Altitude Assault Transport/ Heavy Ground Support) was a very unique addition to the Galactic Republic's army. Although its name suggests it was a kin to other gunships, it was actually an oversized tactical command airspeeder. The LAAT/HGS was most effective in urban and forest environments.

Issued: beginning-end of Clone Wars
Manufacturer: Rothana Heavy Engineering
Armament: 2 heavy cannons, 2 rapid-fire thermal detonator launchers, 1 anti-infantry rotary cannon, and 2 quad missile launchers
Crew: pilot, co-pilot, 2 gunners, technical operator, command figure (Jedi General, Clone Commander, etc.)
Passengers: up to 12
Flight Ceiling: 1,500 ft.
Maximmum Speed: 395 mph (atmosphere)

Missile launchers out.

Missile launchers hidden.

The thermal detonator launchers are slightly based on the Falcon's grenade launchers from the Halo: Reach campaign levels "Tip of the Spear" and "New Alexandria."

The LAAT/HGS was one of three of my creations on display at the 2012 Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California.

Your work is flawless. I have been searching for someone that creates new alternative vehicles and ships for transporting republic clone troopers. This type of ship is what I have been trying to create myself if you have a look at my republic ships but your manipulation of the pieces is amazing compared to me. Please keep building other ships and vehicles like this one because they are truly inspiring for other builders like myself.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist I was just checking your homepage, does your Dad work at LEGOland? If so, very cool!
No, but the master builders needed a little extra help, with deadlines and all...

Quoting Scott Allen Really good techniques and your color implement is cool. Im confused about the belly though, is it supposed to have no floor past the command officers room? Or is it a design choice so it looks better when viewed from any other angle? There is nothing for the troops to stand on, the window slits then have no purpose, and would be an easy target if this was any higher in the air than 6-10 feet. A clean shot to that speeder bike would destroy the ship and everyone aboard. I really like the idea, just looks like its unfinished underneath. Just my opinion. ~cheers
Nice observation. The LAAT/HGS was purposefully built that way. It was equipped with a heavy shield and a back-facing rotary cannon to make up for the lack of an underside. There isn't an underside because cargo often needed to be dropped off in an extremely efficient manner. I hope that answers your question. Keep on building!

This is really cool, the colours and shape is great, but why is there no bottom? Would you mind checking this out? http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/320760

Another fantastic build. Love the colors and the designs you are able to achieve with them. The weaponry is impressive, especially the hidden launchers, and your SNOT work is impeccable as always. My favorite part is the cutout areas on the sides. Very well done.

I wasn't quite sure what to make of this from the thumbnail, but when you explained the concept, it totally blew my mind! Love how the ship is made using bricks rather than plates, and certain areas like the concealed missiles and the cocpits look fabulous. Awesome!

Very nice design, the lack of wings adds to it's simplicity but overall just makes it look that much cooler. Great moc!
