Rancor
About this creation
* UPDATE *
A Major update has been in progress though due to the hasty photos of the original
it's probably hard to tell.
Once the actual is finished I shall endevour to post some more professional pics.
This one is just for fun, a 3D LDD
This one has been a long time coming, It all started when while walking through a toy department I saw Ninjago 2509 Earth Dragon on sale. As soon as I saw the legs I thought of the Rancor from the Empire at War game that I love so much and upon closer inspection I noticed that it had enough of the same pieces to cover the arms of said creature, so I snapped it up and put it in storage. The arms did come pretty easy after a short session in LDD and I was able to put one together with my small stash of red brown bricks. The next part I tackled was the head as this was the make or break of this MOC. I spent a couple of hours on a design but when I sat back it just looked like a bunch of lego bricks stuck together. This is when I thought seriously that get the look I wanted I had to really consider the forms of the actual beast in closer detail and think more like a sculptor and force the lego into the shapes I wanted. The second go took a lot longer but proved worthwhile I hope you agree. The legs remain brick built in a pretty standard manner as they had to hold a lot of weight fom the upper half and joints where going to over complicate the build anyway. As this is a shelf model and not a play date I was happy enough with the lack of posability in that area. I'm still not settled on the back but for now it's covered and that was a chore in itself. I will take better photos and re visit the rear when I get around to building a display base for it but until then it's cooked. Hope you like it and please add comments.

The rancor is easily the most memorable monster from the Return of the Jedi! Where´s Luke when you need him? Excellent! |

I always wanted to build a Rancor, you've raised the bar pretty high in terms of standard here. Amazing! |
