SF-371 Firestorm
Here comes the second in a series of three new star fighters from Whackemoff Stellar Enterprises Inc. As with her sister fighter the Tornado, reports indicate that G.A.I.A. intends to scoop up every last one these babies even before they hit the market. Dr. Whackemoff had only this to say; "So long as they write the check, and it doesn't bounce, that's okay by me!"
About this creation

The Firestorm is the second in the newest line of star fighters produced by Whackemoff Stellar Enterprises Inc.

Like its sister, the Firestorm is also a one man multi-role atmospheric/space FTL fighter.

Where it differs is in her curves, oh yeah she’s a full figured gal! The Firestorm mounts two micro-fusion reactors engines each directly tied to an enhanced thruster allowing the fighter to keep pace with more slender sister ship.

The reason for all this extra thrust is because of her much heavier weapons payload and more powerful deflector shield array.

The Firestorm mounts the same twin medium caliber lasers mounted in the nosecone as the Tornado plus two more on the forward wing canards. Even more devastating is the electromagnetic rail gun mounted in the belly. With 100 rounds in the ammo bin, very few fighters of any category can withstand one or two direct hits although the primary purpose of this gun is for targeting capital ships using maneuvers resembling strafing runs or dive bombing attacks.

Just like her sister, the Firestorm has identical micronized directional thrusters built into the wings and the canard as well as all three tail fins.

She also utilizes the same glass-steel canopy providing that personal protection against chafing laser and ballistic fire!

The external lights next to the cockpit which proved so useful on the Tornado were kept to aid the pilot in searching devastated ships and space debris. Even though the Firestorm lacks the cloaking device of her older sister, skilled pilots can still use the lights to lure in unsuspecting enemy vessels by hiding in debris fields and then drawing in their prey.

The Firestorm also possesses the forward swing wing profile granting her the same benefits as the Tornado including storage and hover vehicle capabilities.

Whether flying solo, in formation with other Firestorms or in joint operations with a Tornado, there is very little the war bird can’t accomplish.

Fin. Get it fin, right? Oh never mind!

Quoting Marc "Edge" R.unde Once again a deadly fighter, and my personal favourite! The parts useage is even better than on the Tornado. Love the way you did the engine covers and how you used the angled beams on the underside! ~Cheers
Thanks Marc. Initially I was only going for a minor cosmetic change from the first but as you can clearly see that quickly took on a life all its own. The angled beams were part of the biggest challenge but luckily they were just long enough for everything to fit together.

Thanks everybody for the words of support with this line. I built the Tornado first and then the Firestorm shortly there after. I didn't want the two of them to be identical but close enough so that it would give the feel they came from the same manufacturer. Oh and RG, I think you'll especially like the last one but we'll see!

If I'd seen this first I'd have been more impressed, but it is very similar to the first design. The red makes it feel less uniform.

Quoting Tom Simon And there is something to be said for color too.
Agreed. Fortunately the greys and silver all blended together nicely while the fire engine red gave it the contrast it needed to stand out.

Or in this case, fight fear with fire (power)!

Yeah, it does kinda look like a Kingon combat dagger don't it!
