A mod of the #8256 Technic Go-Kart replacing the 1-cylindre Technic engine with a Pullback Motor.
About this creation
The Go-Kart was my first Technic model I bought after my dark ages, so it was my first studless Technic model, too. I've been a fan of fast pullback cars since I was a child (does anyone know those fast Darda cars?). I loved the small LEGO pullback motors, but those were sold only a year or two and then they disappeared. Afterwords LEGO made some models with a larger pullback motor and I bought one of those, too. One day I had the idea to put this motor into the Technic Go-Kart.
The model had been in a box on top of a shelf for a long time. Two weeks ago I took it out of its box and optimized it a little with some of my new Technic elements. This is the result:
The front view hasn't really changed. You can see the lever for the starting mechanism in the back.
The starting mechanism: Once you've wound up the motor you push down the lever. The small gears are blocked so they block the big gears when the lever is pushed down.
To start the Go-Kart you just flip the lever upwards and there it goes...
Whooooosh...!
Stop, stop!!!
The steering function has been disabled ...
... and the steering is blocked on the front axle.
Bottom view, the "money shot" for Technic freaks ;-))
So this is my 8256 LEGO Technic Go-Kart mod with a pullback motor. I hope you like it :-))
Bonus picture: The inventory of the Trike set is great, so I bought a second one when they had a 25% discount on this set at a local drugstore :-)) So now I have two of these, but there are others who have two of set #8043 - No, I'm not jealous, no, no ;-))

Excellent work, and the looks were still retained! Just curious, why did the steering system have to be disabled? For me a model with a pullback motor only has to go straight forward. It's also more tricky to wind up the motor with wobbling front wheels and you can't really control where the model will go.

This was one of my favorite technic sets ever, mostly because I suck at technic and the steering on this set was relatively easy. I never thought of adding a pull back motor though, must be a lot more fun to play with now! :) |
