This is the project I've been working on for last four months. This car.. I mean - the real one belonged to one of my colleagues. The color of his Volvo was dark grey so I think that dark bluish grey will fit the real deal well enough. Unfortunately he didn't tell me what was the interior color, so I gave it a light bluish grey treatment.

You've been asking how did I do the door hinging. I uploaded a picture on my flicker account and added detailed comments and notes to it, so it should be clear from this point on. Please feel free to use this concept. Please find the picture here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/the_rolic/7254606140/in/photostream |

Again an amazing creation. It is so clear that it's a Volvo V50, that I hadn't have a look at the title of the creation above the page.
The back is the best part, espacially the rear lights are a exact copy of the ones of the real V50. This is a hard car to build with Lego because of the roundings, details, but you've done an amazing job. |

Quoting brick ster
This car is amazing! How did fit in all those details? It's perfect!
I'll try to put a schematic picture someday here, but for each "one door hinge" there are "three hinging points". This allows the door to come our at first and then hinged as needed. Something similar to how the Coeningsegg doors open. Ah.. it's hard to explain. I'll put a pic better... some day.... when I'll have time for this. |

I'm currently making, can you (or someone else) give any tips how to make it, it's so confusing and cool at the same time. It would be great.
My roof shaping (the slight angling) is based on these hinges http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4276

Hi
Thank you all for the great input. First of all.. yes - I thought about putting these grilled bricks but then I wouldn't be able to place the "T" shaped logo thing in there, because the grill part ir 8 studs wide, not nine. And I hate to put a sticker on a not plat surface. So... it's one or the other way and I liked this one better since the real Volvo also has quite flat front surface. |

I agree on the grill, it could be improved.
But nonetheless this is an outstandingly beautifully crafted car! |

Hey hey, look at this. I have to say you could do something about the front grill with the distinctive Volvo diagonal line as an insignia but it's forgiven. It definitely looks like Volvo and it also has a lot of cool features even in this scale. Bravo! |

I liked it a lot, great detail and great size as well. What i'm trying to learn is how you make the roof, it's so confusing because I tried so many methods and it doesn't come out good at all. What i'm trying to do is build a great and strong looking roof for a concept car I'm currently making, can you (or someone else) give any tips how to make it, it's so confusing and cool at the same time. It would be great. |

Fantastic all the way around! The long wait was well worth it, you are a genius with cars like this. I still don't know how you made all the hinges, but they seem to work just great. Also, I love the half-stud wide fenders sticking out, and that you managed to make the door curve around them without gaps - amazing! So many other great things to point out, I will just say I like the little "T" piece in front for the Volvo logo, very simple but effective. Great to have you back, my friend! |

Utterly brilliant. It's the little things like the parcel shelf, roof rails etc the elevate beyond even the top ranks of LEGO cars. The shape and detailing is of course perfect too. A superb, wonderful, incredible build. And a testing one judging by the intricacies of the window surrounds... 10/10 and congrats on the blogging : ) |

Wow, your creation is remarkable, I like it very much! My input: the front grid - being just flat - lacks details compared to the rest of the car. I would personally try to insert 2x1 black grids instead.
About your photography: not sure you made it on purpose, but all the pictures have a blueish color cast. You can very easily fix during photo retouch. In addition shooting pictures by rotating your MOC around creates just "informative" pictures. Try to experiment taking pictures holding for example your camera at an angle, and then from a very low angle and so on. Such a great MOC deserves a special treatment! Need more help? Just look at Nathanaël Kuipers's 5867 alternates pictures to get inspired! That being said... great MOC, I think you as builder can easily be in the top 10 on MOCpages. Congratulations! MZ |

It's nice to see you back with such a wonderful creation! I like that you go for the more ordinary cars, which are actually harder to build, because the details have to be exactly right. Of course this is no problem for you with this fantastic model that is instantly recognizable! On top of that everything opens in a remarkable way. Well done! |
