I did build the first Grim Reaper back in september 2010,
and it stood on a shelf eversince, but recently, i wanted to extend it, make it bigger and more detailed, and this is the result, i had it with me to the lego event klodsfest 2012 in denmark, where it became a huge succes, in total (together with the first time) i spend around 300 hours on this baby, and im proud of it,
at the klodsfest 2012 many people mistook it with the black pearl, some did even ask me if it wasent a set this one, (i was alittle offended by that) but when people took a closer look, they realised there was no way this could be a set, the first plan was only to extend it alittle by 1 or 2 midsections, and then leave it there, but i couldnt, i tore the whole ship apart and then did build it up again, and it turned out pretty much as before just alot better, i hope you will enjoy it as much as i do.
you can see the first Grim Reaper from the link, at the bottom of this page,

Nice job Morthen, overall I love the whole perimeter of the ship, (Outside and details) but the inside, (area) I thought was a little tight packed. I like how it looks like what would be inside of the ship, It's just that the cannons on each side were too close to each other. But overall, this is a great improvement from your last Grim Reaper.
Thanks. Yes i know its alittle bit cramped up in there. But thats just how it is. Its an massive improvement compared to my previous Grim Reaper. The new one has more colour, details. and size. And brand new sails.
I had it with me at a hobby-fair last weekend. It became a huge succes. Here's a video at youtube

I love it, the printed skull tiles make it look like she's a lot more heavely armed, I see she's well-equiped with suplies for long sea journeys, the dragon wings on the bow look great, especially those black ones, being so close to the hull they actually look like they are carved in. The cabin is missing some color (interior), perhaps add some chairs, truly a ghostship. Once again, black / transp. red works, keep it up
i know but then you wouldnt be able to see the windows on the inside, and if you look closely, you will notice that the windows dosent go through from the inside to the outside, hehe |
