"You may be speedy, but I can get over there in zero seconds flat!"
About this creation
Sylph is my entry to the Hero Factory: Gear Up Contest hosted by Ro Garcia and Chronos Omega. The rules were to build a hero with a custom torso for one of three themes never used by official HF, with one of three primary colours never used by HF. Sylph's theme is "speed". Her colour is "light blue".
Arguably the fastest Hero in Makuhero city, Jasmine Sylph has one of the highest villain re-capture rates too. Considering she uses three times as much quaza as the next hero, she has a lot to make up for.
After the attack on Makuhero University, James Magnus teleported away. The Hero Factory has since tried to find ways of remaking that technology based on what little data about Magnus' jump was recovered. After nine years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait. Jasmine Sylph was designed and created with an experimental engine built into her system that allows near light-speed jumps.
Unfortunately the device isn't capable of moving very heavy masses. Sylph's body is ultra-light and what armour she has is made of ultra-light titanium alloys (and isn't that thick either).
When re-entering the material world again, she is still traveling at a huge speed. Normally launching herself into the air, she can them use her fins and jet boots to ride on this burst of speed. If need be she can also use her fins to decelerate. Her armour and helmet are streamlined to let her go even faster upon re-entry.
Due to the massive speeds she reaches and the lightness of her frame, Sylph has little capacity for damage. She can be taken out by blasts most heroes would take in their stride. While very good at dodging incoming blows, she is especially vulnerable to ambush, and relies on taking out enemies at range.
Her blasters have similar technology to Stormer's ice-gun, letting her freeze baddies in place after teleporting behind them.
Jasmine Sylph is currently not in a squad, but flies solo stopping villains on a global scale until called specifically for a mission. These almost exclusively involve villains with fast vehicles or the ability to fly. Also she has a crush on Rocka.
So, yes. I hope Ro and Chronos like her! I wasn't aware of the deadline being postponed, but, eh. Sylph is completely purist, but she also contains a lot of "illegal" techniques - her waist, elbows, helmet connection (Some bent exo-force tubing through the head's "ear holes"), thigh armour, and the krana in the teleporty thing all technically shouldn't be there. The body is based slightly off Chris Yee's Tethys, but the technic inside it is completely different. Other than that I'm unaware of any design stealage.
Good luck in the constest to the rest of ya! I've probably lost out to Super Pikmin...
A female-looking HF character!? I almost don't believe it...
Excellent job! (Why MOCs like this aren't the most popular for Bionicle on MOCpages is beyond me)
Finally someone proves that all the Knights Kingdom stuff I bought a few years ago isn't obsolete and it can still be used. Used very well, as you have proven.
Nice build with great colours! How did you connect the head? I am just curious because I want to see if there is a better way to connect my self moc's mask...
Okay, thanks! I've been wanting to add music to my mocs :) ... But could I get instructions(or maybe just a breakdown) for that torso? I'd really appreciate it! :)

Oh, and what height and width did you use for the video?
I didn't change the width of the video, and I can't remember what the default width is off the top of my head, but the height is 35. Just enough to fit the bar at the bottom of the video, so people can pause it, move the progress bar, etc.

Awesome work! I love it when people use the old KK masks. But I still don't see how they fit on the Glatorian heads :/
If you look closely at the side of her head in the second to last picture, you can see the clear tubing holding the helmet in place. I cut it to be about three studs long, and then shoved it through one ear-hole and out of the other. The connection is very strong, but the amount of energy pent up in the tubing can cause the helmet to fire off if handled too much.

how did u make it so that you could play music in the back round of the page instead of taking you to youtube to play it
Find a music video on YouTube you like, click the "share" button underneath the video, and then click "Embed". If gives you a code you can copy and paste into your MOCpage. Be sure to use the "old" code option though. The new code uses iFrame, which MOCpages doesn't support. -When you have the embed code, you can edit the height and width of the video by changing the height and width numbers in the actual code. Autoplay can be done by adding "autoplay=1&" after any one & sign displayed in the code.

Nice Job! Like the color scheme and helmet. Also good luck in the contest!

Can't quite see any design stealing, not that I concern myself with those things anyway. Definitely makes use of those bent arms I'd use for not much else. Besides, mine served a particular function, yours would have it's own function as well. As for the build, awesome work as usual. Think we might have started a trend, given the comments on the torso? lol
To be honest the upper torso was a bit of a rehash of Telzira's torso design, but I credited you there too. ^^; And, I hope so. It's a good design to use if you want to make a smaller female MOC who's less... endowed than your usual nuva-armoured glatorianess.

Awesome i like the torso but I think the legs could use a little more light blue in them
I actually deliberately avoided adding light blue to the lower legs. I wanted it to look like she had purely silver boots. Maybe I should have put some detail around her knee joint to make that more profound. I see where you're coming from though.

I like how you used those Nuva legs.. I've been trying to find a use for them for years. Also clever Pokemon reference is clever.
Pokemon? I know I snuck a ValvE/TF2 reference in there, but I'm not aware of any Poke-quotes.

Wow, great MOC! Love the use of the Jayko helmet, and great work on the body! I didn't think I'd see any Heros in this color, so extra awesomeness for that! 5/5! (I'm gonna lose but oh well :P)

Excellent entry to the contest, I love the stream-like build this has.
I love that torso and that's a great colour scheme. Like Ro said I too am also curious on how you managed to attached that Nights Kingdom helmet on that agori head. Illigal or not that head is a really great design especially with that helmet which brings back memories of when I got Jayko. I challenge you to do a moc with Sir Santis' helmet (the red night). That would be pretty cool :D This Is a great moc for the comp nice work .
Very nice! I'm quite impressed. The use of parts, the overall look, I find first rate. The concept to archive speed is quite unique. I am very curious about how you managed to attach that helmet part on?

Great entry, as expected. The torso is very nice, although the rest is a bit simple. I don't mind any 'illegal' connections- after all, if it CAN connect, why shouldn't it?
My thoughts exactly. I actually like using illegal connections. I guess that makes me no better than the average beanie-wearing LEGO city criminal...

Holy belly of Jube! :D That's amazing. The torso is awesome. She looks perfect. Two questions though, you say 'bent exo-force tubing', what do you mean by that? And then what is the new format for embedding the music like that? Thanks. ;)
Firstly, it's this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x400c20 . And this is actually the same format I used as before, but I've just adjusted the height to 35 instead of 25, and left the width the same, to allow you viewers to actually access the options at the bottom of the video.

Very nice work! I love the color scheme, and while some of those connections look like your pieces will never be the same, it is still an excellent MOC.
Oh, they will. The only parts that could cause trouble are her waist connectors, but threading an axle through them for a couple of days should fix them up after she's disassembled.

See, if Hero Factory made sets like this I'd love it. Great job! I definitely like the torso. Everything looks great, and nearly all of it is custom, which impresses me even more.
This is fantastic! She isn't tall, but has so many details (mostly at the torso)! I like how you put actual gears (matches the contest name!) on her. The color sheme is amazing! Also very nice to see a Knight's Kingdom helmet, and i think it works perfectly for Hero Factory! Good luck in the contest!

Good lord...
This moc is a excellent. The use of the color light blue blands with the silver well, and the use of illegal techniques ( how in the world did you connect the knights kingdom helmet to a hero factory head?) is utilized brilliantly. Good luck in round 2. I probably won't be joining you.

Holy macerol! This has to be one of the best Hero Factory mocs ever built! Loving the use of Jayko's helmet, and who gives a monkeys about illegal connections! Incredible job!
Hopefully the judges. I included them to make me look clever after all. ^^;
